Hopkins Hall Gallery hosts ‘Pattern and Dissonance’
The Arts Initiative presents Pattern and Dissonance, part of its summer series, in Hopkins Hall Gallery through Friday (6/24). From sharing a studio for the past year and observing their differences and similarities, Alicia Little and Cat Mailloux combine their techniques, ways of thinking and ways of making to create this show, which is inspired by interior settings and the patterns and objects that fill those spaces. A reception is planned in the gallery Thursday (6/23) 3-4 p.m.

Turner wins the 2016 FAME Distinguished Mentor Award
Dr. Joanne Turner, a professor in the Department of Microbial Infection & Immunity (MI&I), has received the 2016 FAME Distinguished Mentor Award from Ohio State's College of Medicine. Drs. Amal Amer, Jesse Kwiek, Murugesan Rajaram and Jacob Yount nominated her for the award, citing that she “works tirelessly to enhance the career progression of her colleagues.” In their letter of nomination, they also noted that Turner “strives to optimize the workplace to be welcoming to women and individuals of diverse backgrounds.” In a supporting letter, Dr. Larry Schlesinger, chair of MI&I, wrote, “Dr. Turner is an outstanding and highly accomplished scientist, teacher, and mentor who is having a significant impact on trainees.”

The application deadline for the President’s Prize is quickly approaching on Friday (7/15). Traffic/parking impacts June 24-26
The Special Olympics State Summer Games will take place Friday (6/24) - Sunday (6/26). Motorists should anticipate increased parking demand, heavier than normal traffic on highways and streets, and heavy pedestrian traffic when traveling on campus, particularly near the Coffey Road fields as well as 11th and 12th Avenues (east of Neil Avenue). Please note that on Saturday and Sunday Coffey Road will be open to one-way northbound traffic only.

Clinical Trial of a Novel Type of Treatment for Depression
The Ohio State University Department of Psychiatry is currently enrolling in a research study to evaluate a new investigational drug for depression. Participants must be adults who are currently receiving treatment with an antidepressant, but are still experiencing symptoms of depression. Participants will receive study-related care and study drug (or placebo) at no cost and receive some compensation for their time.
