Headline newsTODAY’S WOSU TV VIEWPOINT SPECIAL TO FOCUS ON GEEWOSU TV will air a special edition of “Viewpoint” at 8 p.m. today
(7/19) featuring a rebroadcast of Gordon Gee’s presidential announcement.
The special also will include a roundtable discussion hosted by Columbus on
the Record’s Mike Thompson. Guests will include Alex Shumate, a member
of OSU’s Board of Trustees; Yvette McGee Brown, President of the Center
for Child and Family Advocacy at Children’s Hospital; and Thomas Suddes,
a columnist with The Plain Dealer in Cleveland. The discussion will focus on
Gee’s return and the challenges he’ll face as the 14th president
of Ohio State.
OHIO STATE, FORD PARTNER TO RACE HYBRID VEHICLESOhio State engineering students and engineers at Ford Motor Company
are working together to design hydrogen fuel cell vehicles that will
challenge landspeed records in August in Utah. OSU students have spent
the past two years designing and building the Buckeye
Bullet 2, a fuel-cell powered streamliner racing vehicle, which
they will race during Speed Week at the Bonneville Salt Flats Friday
(8/10)-Friday (8/17). Ford announced that it will also take its 10
years of hydrogen research expertise when it races its hydrogen fuel
cell powered Ford Fusion at Bonneville in an attempt to set the world

More > SECOND SUMMER CAMPUS HOP IS TONIGHTThe Wexner Center will feature the 1964 Billy Wilder movie, “Kiss Me,
Stupid” on the Wexner Center plaza today (7/19) as part of the summer's
second Campus Hop. Snacks and a cash bar will begin at 8 p.m. and the free
film will start about 9 p.m. The Ohio Union Activities Board also is sponsoring
entertainment on the plaza from 5:30-8:30 p.m. For a complete list of Campus

seeking input on the redesign of the Research tab located on One Source from
noon-1 p.m. today (7/19) in 234 Meiling Hall. The discussion is part of ongoing
efforts to promote professional interaction, communication and continuing education
for clinical research at the OSU Medical Center. The event is open to everyone.

Here’s a preview from the online version of onCampus: OIT-TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND NETWORKING TO STOP USING SSNAs of Monday (7/23), OIT-Telecommunications and Networking (formerly UNITS) will stop using Social Security numbers as account numbers for Ohio State students, faculty and staff who have billable, personal-use telecommunication services. All student SSN accounts will be converted to OSU BuckID numbers, and all faculty and staff SSN accounts will be converted to OSU employee ID numbers. Details are available online or by contacting OIT at 688-HELP (select menu option 2). NEW VANPOOLING OPTION AVAILABLE FOR OSU FACULTY AND STAFFOSU’s Department of Transportation and Parking Services has joined efforts
with the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission’s RideSolutions program
to provide faculty and staff with vanpooling services. As part of the service,
RideSolutions will reimburse vanpool commuters 90 percent of their fare should
they need to take a taxi in cases of emergency or unexpected overtime. For

income, housing, age, education and many other consumer and business information.
The online service provides access to current and past U.S. Census data from
1990, 2000 and estimated figures for 2006 along with projection figures to
2011. The information helps the user identify household buying patterns, create
and analyze trade areas, evaluate market penetration, identify business locations,
find new customers, reveal untapped markets, select the right merchandise mix

CHADWICK ARBORETUM OPEN HOUSE JULY 22The OSU Chadwick Arboretum & Learning Gardens will host an Open House
from 2-5 p.m. Sunday (7/22) in the Learning Gardens in front of Howlett Hall.
The event will feature guided tours of the Learning Gardens, entertainment
by local band Loosely Strung, a hosta auction, and children's activities.
Master gardeners will be on site to answer gardening questions. Bring the entire
family to this free and educational event. Free parking is available in the
lots adjacent to Howlett Hall. Contact: maloney.23@osu.edu UNIVERSITY HEALTH CONNECTION CLOSES TEMPORARILY FOR REMODELThe University Health Connection, the campus health clinic for faculty and
staff in 100 Parks Hall, will be closed for remodeling Friday (7/27)-Wednesday
(8/15). Select services, such as health screenings, pharmacy and nutrition
consultation, reflexology and massage therapy, will be offered temporarily
in the Student Lounge down the hall from the clinic (room 104). Urgent care
walk-ins, primary care appointments and medication dispensing will be directed
to alternate sites. Call 688-0300 prior to visiting during these dates. |
