Construction update
College Road construction to begin today
Starting today (7/6), College Road will be under construction. Although two-way, one-lane traffic will be maintained, delays should be expected and motorists are asked to use alternate routes and parking when possible.
This construction project will provide utility line installation, and curb ramps will be replaced. Work will be complete by mid-to-late August and will be followed up with the repaving of College Road and 18th, 19th and Neil avenues. July 8: Ohio State to participate in launch of STEM Education Model
Ohio State joins the Business-Higher Education Forum for the public launch of Raytheon's Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Education Model on Wednesday (7/8) at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. Kathryn Sullivan, director of the Battelle Center for Mathematics and Science Education Policy at the John Glenn School of Public Affairs, is a keynote speaker. Led by the Battelle Center, the Ohio State team also includes staff from the College of Engineering’s Center for Resilience and the Center for Enterprise Transformation and Innovation. Jeffries to discuss Bloody Lowndes: Civil Rights and Black Power in Alabama’s Black Belt
Hasan Kwame Jeffries, OSU assistant professor of history who holds a joint appointment with the Kirwan Institute, will discuss his recently released book, Bloody Lowndes: Civil Rights and Black Power in Alabama’s Black Belt at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday (7/8) at the King Arts Complex. A largely untold story, Lowndes County, Alabama spawned a new form of political engagement which became a blueprint for the Black Power movement and originated the Black Panther symbol, later adopted nationally as a symbol of black militancy. Changes to CCS Rules on Recruitment, Selection and Appointments effective July 10
Ohio State’s Board of Trustees approved changes to the Classified Civil Service Rules on Recruitment, Selection and Appointments at the June meeting, which will be effective on Friday (7/10). In December 2006, the Ohio General Assembly passed Substitute House Bill 187, an effort to reform Ohio’s laws governing civil service employment. IRB Process Information Session Aug. 7
Students and other research staff are encouraged to attend an information session on the IRB approval and exemption processes from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Friday (8/7) in 020 Page Hall. The session will include information about the types of studies that require IRB approval or can qualify for exemption, details about procedures and timelines for seeking approvals, and an opportunity to ask questions about specific projects. Free online course in disaster preparedness now available to nurses
The Center for Public Health Practice, within the College of Public Health, is offering a free, online course to nurses on how to prepare, respond and recover from public health disasters, such as infectious disease outbreaks and floods.
