July 10: Public invited to Who’s Who in Black Columbus event
Ohio State President E. Gordon Gee and Senior Vice President for Outreach & Engagement Joyce Beatty will host the unveiling reception for the 7th edition of Who’s Who in Black Columbus, starting at 6 p.m. Friday (7/10) at the Schottenstein Center. Beatty wrote the introduction to the newest edition of the publication, which features a special tribute to Ohio State Alumni Association President/CEO Archie Griffin. Webinars can help Fulbright Scholar applicants
The Council for International Exchange of Scholars is now offering online workshops with Fulbright program experts. The online workshops, or Webinars, will be held at 2 p.m. EST on Wednesdays (7/15 and 7/22), and will include sessions on references and reviewing application materials. The Office of International Affairs is the campus representative for the Fulbright Scholars program, and application information for grants available to use in 2010-2011 can be found at http://fulbright.osu.edu.
Today: American Sign Language Program hosts lecture
Deaf educator Lisette Tedeschi will present “Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students: Behind the Scenes in a Mainstream Educational Setting” from 7:30-8:30 p.m. today (7/9) in 180 Hagerty Hall. Joining her will be two former students from the Franklin County Hearing Impaired program. The lecture is free and open to the public and will address current issues related to the field of deaf education specific to the mainstream setting, including language, pedagogy and the social experience. Ancient civilization on display at OSU Marion gallery
"Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley, Peru, a photographic exhibition of an ancient civilization," is on display through Friday (7/31) at the Wayne & Geraldine Kuhn Fine Arts Gallery at Ohio State Marion. The photos were taken by Vladimir Steffel, OSU Emeritus Professor of History. A free public artist reception is scheduled from 4-6 p.m. Monday (7/13) in the gallery. Marotta Hour: Matt Davignon at the OSU Urban Arts Space

The Ray Miller Institute for Change and Leadership is currently accepting applications for its fall class, to be held Monday (10/5)-Monday (12/7). Annual Leadership and Management Institute Aug. 5-6
The Center for Public Health Practice will hold its annual Leadership and Management Institute on Wednesday (8/5) and Thursday (8/6) at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 350 N. High St., Columbus. The theme is “Empowering Conversations in a Changing World.” The seminar is geared toward professionals in the public health field who want to improve their work relationships and enhance leadership credibility. Third annual charity pro-am to benefit The James
FORE Cancer Research will hold its third annual charity pro-am golf tournament to benefit The James on Monday (8/3) at The Lakes Golf & Country Club. A shot-gun start begins at noon, followed by a reception, live auction and a celebrity guest speaker. A PGA professional is paired with each foursome; four-team best ball scramble format with no handicaps. The event benefits Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute and the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research.
