Headline newsREPORT OF INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS TASK FORCE AVAILABLE ONLINEInterim President and Provost Joseph Alutto met with the International Programs
Task Force on Wednesday (8/15) to discuss its recent report, “On Becoming
a Global University,” which provides an overview of international activities
at Ohio State. It also recommends four strategies for further internationalizing
our programs and processes, while more thoroughly integrating international
perspectives into the academic experience. The task force also considered next
steps in enhancing the university’s international presence and positioning
Ohio State as a global institution. In January, then-President Karen Holbrook
formed the task force to outline an international vision for Ohio State. Academic

LEADERSHIP TRANSITION IN MAPSRichard Freeman, dean of the College of Mathematical and Physical Sciences
since 2003, has announced his resignation from the deanship. He will continue
to serve the college as a Distinguished Professor of Mathematical and Physical
Sciences and a member of the Department of Physics. Vice Provost for Academic
Policy and Faculty Resources Matthew Platz, former chair of the Department
of Chemistry, has been named interim dean of the college, subject to approval

SUMMER’S LAST CAMPUS HOP TODAYA tailgate preview party in the pedestrian "alley" of South Campus Gateway and a free, outdoor movie on the Wexner Center plaza will anchor the summer's last Campus Hop today (8/16). The Campus Hop will run from 5 p.m.-midnight along High Street with activities designed to appeal to people of all ages, including live music, restaurant specials and interesting exhibits. The series of workshops and gatherings with senior staff women will focus on providing skill building and leadership development activities for 24 staff members who aspire to senior leadership positions. on Research Faculty-Student Showcase from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday (8/21) in the Digital
Union, located on the third floor of the Science and Engineering Library. The
event is open to the public and features electronic poster sessions demonstrating
the multimedia research ePortfolios created by faculty/student ePartnership
teams funded by TELR's 2007 Research on Research grants program. The teams

The new 2007-08 permit will be required to access all parking areas starting Saturday (9/1) - the date of the first OSU home football game of the season.
