USE OF INSULIN PEN MAY SAVE DIABETICS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS

Diabetics who need to switch from oral medications to insulin could reduce their annual healthcare costs up to $17,000 by using an insulin pen instead of a syringe to deliver their daily dose of medication. A new study found that using an insulin pen may result in fewer trips to the emergency department and to the doctor's office, resulting in substantial savings to diabetics and their insurers. UNIVERSITY AIRPORT TO BEGIN NOISE STUDY

Ohio State has received a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration to begin a Federal Aviation Regulations Part 150 Noise and Land Use Compatibility Study for the University Airport. The study will document noise levels from current aircraft operations and forecasted future operations, and will develop recommendations for reducing potential aircraft noise exposure for surrounding communities. TRAINING SESSION TODAY: NEW ONLINE APPLICATION FOR RESEARCHERS

A training session for Technology Licensing and Commercialization’s new online submission process for initiating a Material Transfer Agreement for incoming material (eMTA-in) will take place from 3-4 p.m. today (8/23) in 113 Research Foundation, 1960 Kenny Road. PROPOSALS SOUGHT FOR STEPHEN BIKO SYMPOSIUM

The Department of African American and African Studies Community Extension Center is accepting abstracts and panel proposals for possible inclusion at its “Symposium on the Life and Death of Stephen Biko,” scheduled for Friday (10/12) at the African American and African Studies Community Extension Center, 905 Mount Vernon Ave. The symposium will examine the life, work and legacy of noted South African civil rights activist Stephen Biko, who was murdered 30 years ago. “Overweight vs. Overfat,” a workshop to review the difference between body fat and body types using models and short screenings, will take place from 1-2 p.m. Thursday (8/30) in 64A Hopewell Hall. The event is part of a series of health and wellness workshops offered by the OSU Newark Office of Human Resources. Friday (8/31) is the last day that students and OSU employees can use the online super form to apply for autumn 2007 Continuing Education domestic undergraduate admissions. Apply online. International students, Ohio State employees with visas, or permanent residents in possession of a green card for less than one year must use the international CEd application.
