Headline newsCOMPOUNDS THAT COLOR FRUITS, VEGGIES MAY PROTECT AGAINST COLON CANCERUnderstanding the molecular structures of compounds that give certain fruits
and vegetables their rich colors may help researchers find even more powerful
cancer fighters, a new study led by Monica Giusti, OSU assistant professor
of food science, suggests. Evidence from laboratory experiments on rats and
on human colon cancer cells also suggests that anthocyanins, the compounds
that give color to most red, purple and blue fruits and vegetables appreciably
slow the growth of colon cancer cells. The findings also bring scientists a
step closer to figuring out what exactly gives fruits and vegetables their

YAROSSI TO DISCUSS TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE AUG. 30Paul Yarossi, a national expert on transportation infrastructure, alternative
funding and security, will provide an engineering perspective on the need to
secure our critical infrastructure while planning for a 21st century transportation
network in Ohio and across the United States, from 1-2 p.m. Thursday (8/30)

Center for Resilience. Read More > WOSU’S OPEN LINE TO FEATURE STRICKLAND, TIBERIGov. Ted Strickland and Congressman Pat Tiberi (12th District of Ohio) will
be guests on WOSU 820 AM’s Open Line on Friday (8/31). Tiberi will appear
during the 10-11 a.m. hour and Strickland the 11 a.m.-noon hour. During both
hours, listeners will have an opportunity to question their elected representatives.

Cystitis Support Group on Saturday (9/15) in Wexner Hall, 1900 Coffey Road.
Those living with IC and related disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome
and fibromyalgia, are encouraged to attend and learn how recent developments
can be translated into better care. Speakers include several OSU faculty. Registration

de una Muerte Anunciada” (Chronicle of a Death Foretold). The recipient

(8/31) at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium when the Buckeyes play host to Butler

Buckeyes are led by player of the year award candidate and co-captain Lara
Dickenmann, Canadian national team member Lisa Collison, and co-captains Amanda
