Faculty, staff and students can get help connecting to Ohio State's wireless network, diagnosing a sluggish computer, addressing virus problems or answering questions about IT. The IT Service Desk, which provides support for e-mail and wireless accounts, cellular phones, site-licensed software, identity maintenance, classroom services support, and bill payments for OIT services, will remain at 025 Central Classroom Building. Ohio State soil scientist receives international award

 Ohio State professor Rattan Lal received the prestigious international M.S. Swaminathan Award from the Trust for the Advancement of Agricultural Sciences on Tuesday (8/11) in New Dehli, India. Lal, a world-renowned soil scientist, is traveling in India with President E. Gordon Gee and Bobby Moser, vice president for Agricultural Administration and dean of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences where they are seeking global partners for the university. The award recognizes those who have made great impacts in the field of agriculture on a global basis, and in food security and sustainability of agriculture in India. Read more >

Gee, Starkoff to speak at Research on Research event Aug. 26

The Digital Union invites you to the sixth annual Research on Research (R2) Showcase from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Wednesday (8/26) at the Digital Union (SEL 370). President Gee and CIO Kathleen Starkoff will give opening remarks, followed by an electronic poster session. See how students and their faculty research partners have used digital media to present research on subjects ranging from art to pharmacy, from spiders to babies. Road work alert: College Road, 18th, 19th and Neil Avenues

No parking will be permitted on 18th and 19th avenues throughout the duration of the project from Monday (8/17) to Friday (9/4). Alternate parking will be permitted on Magruder Road, behind Stillman Hall and the Northwest and Arps Garages. Monday (8/17) through Thursday (8/20) preparation work will begin in these areas. Through traffic, with possible delays, will be permitted all next week. Save the date: Ohio State symposium to examine animal welfare issues

Plan now to attend the Ohio State Animal Welfare Symposium: Building Partnerships to Address Animal Welfare, from 8 a.m.-4:15 p.m. Friday (10/16) at the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center. The symposium is organized by Ohio State’s College of Veterinary Medicine and the Department of Animal Sciences in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, which have recently partnered with the Animal Welfare Science Centre of Australia. OSU Newark call for artwork: Pilgrimage through the Centuries

Artwork submissions are currently being accepted for an upcoming exhibition, “Pilgrimage through the Centuries,” at the LeFevre Art Gallery at Ohio State Newark. All media and format will be considered, and the submission deadline is Friday (9/4). Suggested themes include personal journeys, the relevance of pilgrimage in contemporary life, historical accounts of pilgrimage, and reflections on historical and/or personal pilgrimage sites. Aug. 21: Fisher Executive Education hosts Business of Good Forum

The Business of Good Forum is a speaker series comprised of people devoted to advancing the efforts of social entrepreneurism. Sept. 17: Perinatal Center hosts Annual Region IV Perinatal Conference

The Region IV Perinatal Center, based at the OSU Medical Center, will host the 18th Annual Region IV Perinatal Conference, “Weighty” Issues of Pregnancy: Maternal/Neonatal Weights and Its Effect on Birth Outcomes on Thursday (9/17) at the Courtyard by Marriott Columbus West. Topics will include caring for the pregnant woman/baby in relation to: glycemic control, obesity, bariatric surgery, eating disorders, and neonatal nutrition with human milk and maternal supplementation.
