Master plan will set stage for true One University
University leaders here have begun a comprehensive master plan they’re calling One Ohio State Framework - a reference to President Gordon Gee’s call for “One University.” The plan will allow the university to establish a long-range physical vision for the campus and provide a context for smarter decisions about how we spend, build and grow - both now and in the future, said Jeff Kaplan, senior vice president for administration and planning and special assistant to the president. Staff spotlight shines on Gary Wenneker
Gary Wenneker is featured in the staff spotlight in the latest edition of onCampus. A 15-year OSU employee, Wenneker works in the Food Industries Center Pilot Plants. When he's not overseeing the production of cheese and ice cream products, snack foods, salsa and other popular treats, Wenneker hosts short courses and training sessions. Cannon Drive bridge repair begins today
Beginning today (8/17), the bridge at the north side of Lincoln Tower and over Cannon Drive will be closed for concrete repair work. Signs will be posted redirecting walkway traffic. Reminder: College Road, 18th, 19th and Neil road work starts today
Parking will not be permitted on 18th and 19th avenues throughout the duration of the project, today (8/17)-Friday (9/4). Alternate parking will be permitted on Magruder Road, behind Stillman Hall and the Northwest and Arps Garages. Today (8/17)-Thursday (8/20) preparation work will begin in these areas. Through traffic, with possible delays, will be permitted. Detailed information on the project and the impact on parking can be found at http://tp.osu.edu/alerts/summerconstruction.shtml. Advertising deadline Aug. 21 for onCampus resource Guide
The advertising space reservation deadline is Friday (8/21) for the 13th annual onCampus resource Guide, to be published Thursday (9/17). More than 30,000 copies of the popular 60-page publication are distributed through campus mail, at 36 building sites and throughout the year at new employee orientation sessions. Apply now for 2009-10 parking permit
Starting on Tuesday (9/1), 2009-10 parking permits and keycards will be required to access all parking areas. Parking permit applications are available online at http://tp.osu.edu. The option to receive your permit by mail applies to faculty/staff applications received online by 11:30 p.m. Wednesday (8/19) — 7:30 p.m. for applications received at 160 Bevis Hall or by mail. After that date, permits must be picked up in 160 Bevis Hall (photo ID required). Allow 3-5 business days processing time, if ordering online, and be sure to call in advance to ensure that your permit order is ready.

Aug. 21: BIGG Glass Art Tour Series at OSU Urban Arts Space
Visit the OSU Urban Arts Space from 1-2 p.m. Friday (8/21) for a tour/workshop involving the current exhibition, BIGG: Breakthrough Ideas in Global Glass. The first part of the tour will explore and discuss the works; the second involves drawing or writing in response to the artworks; the final part will present and discuss reactions and creations. Update in Hospital Medicine 2009 conference Sept. 25
A CME conference, Update in Hospital Medicine 2009 is scheduled for Friday (9/25) at the University Plaza Hotel and Conference Center, 3110 Olentangy River Road. Presentations will include discussion time and will cover a range of critical care and hospital medicine topics from COPD and congestive heart failure to sepsis and MRSA.
