Did you know that the Office of the Chief Information Officer maintains several technology-rich classrooms within the regular classroom pool? These innovative spaces include rooms with SMART Boards and a computer-equipped classroom designed especially for collaborative work. Beginning Autumn 2010, these classrooms will be equipped with self-help documentation. Additionally, pre-quarter and mid-quarter orientation programs will be offered to help instructors incorporate available technologies into their teaching routine. Ohio State awarded $12.4 million in federal grants to support international programs
The U.S. Department of Education has awarded $12.4 million in grants to six of Ohio State’s international programs, making it one of the few universities in the nation to receive federal funding to support multiple disciplines. Ohio State’s Area Studies Centers, Foreign Language Center and Fisher College of Business received the grants to enhance the study of foreign languages, culture and international business. Interested in dental implants? The Division of Periodontology in the College of Dentistry is conducting a study to learn more about wound healing around dental implants. You may be qualified if you are missing a single tooth or having a tooth scheduled for extraction on your lower back jaw. You should be at least 18 years old and a non-smoker with healthy gums and teeth. The study requires routine visits at 1, 2, 3, 6, 8 and 12 post-operative weeks. Ohio State's military 'hero day' hits the mark
Members of the Ohio National Guard and their families gathered at the Woody Hayes Athletics Center on Friday (7/27) for a day of sport and learning, lending tribute to those who serve our country. Operation Military Kids Hero Camp, sponsored by the OSU Department of Athletics, OSU Extension, its Ohio 4-H program and the Ohio National Guard, welcomed about 65 children from service families for a full schedule of fun and perhaps also a distraction from reality. Interested in whitening your teeth? The Division of Dental Hygiene in the College of Dentistry is conducting a study on the effectiveness of a light activated tooth whitening system. If you have not whitened your teeth within the last six months, are at least eighteen years old, and have all of your front teeth you may be eligible to participate. Participation requires four visits to the College of Dentistry within a four week period. Qualified participants will receive whitening trays and whitening gel at the conclusion of the study. Campus memorial service for J. Michael Dunn Oct. 8
A campus memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday (10/8) for J. Michael Dunn, director of Recreational Sports Learning and former director of the Department of Recreational Sports, who died Friday (7/23) after a short illness. More details will be shared nearer the date. Private family services will be held in Indiana in coming weeks. Gulati to deliver 'Clinical Pharmacology: Past, Present & Future'
The colleges of Pharmacy and Medicine will host Om Datt Gulati, and a presention, "Clinical Pharmacology: Past, Present & Future" at 10:30 a.m. Thursday (8/5) in 250 Parks Hall. As past professor of pharmacology and dean of the Medical College of Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda his research in the pharmacological sciences brought the honor of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology in 1971. Aug. 10: Transient Music Series at OSU Urban Arts Space
The Transient Music Series, presented by artist and musician John Also Bennett, showcases musicians and performers from the contemporary experimental underground. The Office of Research is offering a PI Portal Practice Lab from 9:30-11 a.m. Friday (8/6).
