CarmenWiki for courses and projects
Enhance your courses, programs or projects with CarmenWiki, a new
service from Learning Technology in the Office of the Chief Information
Officer. The service offers collaborative teaching, learning and
organizational space online. Wikis allow people to create and edit web
pages that connect ideas or coordinate projects. CarmenWiki serves many
purposes including proposal and report writing; organizing, discussing
and sharing resources for projects; and enabling students to develop

Governor orders flags to be lowered Friday in honor of Sen. William Saxbe
Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland on Wednesday (8/25) issued the following proclamation in memory of former U.S. Senator, U.S. Attorney General and Ohio Speaker of the House William B. Saxbe:
"In honor of the life and service of William B. Saxbe I hereby proclaim, by the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Ohio by the Ohio Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, that the flags of the United States of America and the State of Ohio shall be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout the State of Ohio from sunrise to sunset on Friday (8/27)."
OSU Medical Students Learn About Aging From Seniors.

The OSU Senior Partners Program seeks senior adults interested in meeting with medical students throughout the first 2 years of medical school. OARnet part of $111 million broadband stimulus funding grants
The Ohio Academic Resources Network (OARnet), a multidisciplinary research center under Ohio State’s Office of Research, is part of two grants totaling more than $111 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to extend broadband access throughout northeast and southern Ohio. Adding more than 3,500 miles of optical fiber to the state will promote creation and retention of jobs throughout the state, while maintaining OARnet’s core mission of serving the research and education needs of higher education. The university will recognize the Labor Day holiday on Monday (9/6). Offices will be closed. Summer quarter hours end and the university returns to regular hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m. when offices open on Tuesday (9/7).

Professor composes soundtrack for award winning documentary
Steven Glaser, professor of piano in the School of Music, composed the soundtrack for an upcoming award winning documentary, A Bridge Life, making its world television premiere on the Documentary Channel on Monday (8/30), at 8 p.m. ET with an encore presentation at 11 p.m. A Bridge Life was the recipient of a Christ Award from the Columbus International Film and Documentary Festival in November. Interpreter Services at the OSU Medical Center is offering a workshop, “Basic Communication Needs of the Deaf Patient” from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday (9/8) in the Ross Heart Hospital Auditorium. Attendees will examine written materials by deaf persons and the structure of American Sign Language, and learn how to use different communication techniques and the services of an interpreter in a clinical setting.
