Summer makeover
 Students and faculty returning to Ohio State after a summer away always are greeted by a slew of additions to the campus landscape. Completed projects include the South Oval geothermal wells project and the high-rises on South Campus. Also nearing completion is the transformation of the former Enarson Hall into the new Hale Hall, which will be the home of the Hale Black Cultural Center and the offices of Outreach and Engagement and Diversity and Inclusion. The old Hale Hall was demolished to provide green space and more geothermal wells for South Campus.
Projects with noticeable progress made over the summer include the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and Chemistry Building and the new James Cancer Hospital and critical care hospital building.

Lissner to provide technical assistance in Indonesia on disability policy and practice
 L. Scott Lissner, Ohio State’s Americans with Disabilities Act coordinator, has been invited to provide technical assistance in Indonesia on disability policy and practice. The trip is sponsored by the Department of State’s Public Diplomacy Program and will focus on advocacy, access and inclusion at all levels of education, preparing teachers and university faculty to work in inclusive settings, and the benefits to society of an inclusive approach to education.

USAC Staff Tailgate Aug. 28
The University Staff Advisory Committee is kicking off the new school year and a new football season with the USAC Staff Tailgate on Wednesday (8/28) at the Ohio Union’s west plaza along College Road. Join your fellow staff members from noon-1 p.m. A free lunch (hot dog, chips, and drink) will be provided to the first 400 attendees, and all will enjoy games, a photo booth, and other treats.

Aug. 29: The Future of the Biomedical Research Workforce
Learn about the current state of the biomedical research workforce and recommendations to the National Institutes of Health to support a sustainable, diverse biomedical research enterprise on Thursday (8/29) from 10-11 a.m. in 105 Biomedical Research Tower. OSU and AEP section leaders to explore meeting clean energy goals
The topic for the Wednesday (9/11) Environmental Professionals Network breakfast is “Achieving Clean Energy Goals – Meeting Technical and Policy Challenges.” Sponsored by the Office of Energy and Environment and American Electric Power, a panel of OSU and AEP experts and leaders will be moderated by OEE’s Kate Bartter. The EPN monthly breakfasts are held at the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center.
