Headline newsTARGETED THERAPY, SURGERY OFFERS CANCER PATIENTS NEW HOPEOhio State’s James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute is
extending the lives of some colorectal cancer patients with metastases only
to the liver by devising personalized targeted treatment approaches. In many
cases, these patients have had tumors that most modern medical textbooks define
as inoperable. But major advances in chemotherapy, local ablative approaches
and surgical techniques over the last five years have greatly improved the
possibility of cure for 5 to 10 percent of these patients, says Mark Bloomston,

Behavioral and Social Sciences Institutional Review Board submissions and exemption
requests. These office hours, to be held in 150L Page Hall, are intended to
help students and their advisors navigate IRB forms, policies and review procedures.

key personnel who participate in human subjects research. The Web-based refresher
course licensed by the Collaborative IRB Training Initiative is used to meet
this requirement. Training for all individuals participating on a project must
be current before IRB review of new or continuing research. Additional
information about the CITI courses in human subjects protection is available

just before the premiere of the highly anticipated Ken Burns film, "The War"
airing at 8 p.m. The Roadshow features Central Ohio veterans,
their children and grandchildren, and history enthusiasts as they share stories,
keepsakes, and souvenirs from World War II. Warren Motts of Motts Military
Museum in Groveport hosts this unique gathering at WOSU@COSI. The War, a seven-part
documentary tells the story of World War II through personal
