Octogenarian French filmmaker Agnès Varda has produced one of the most inventive and lyrical autobiographies ever committed to film in The Beaches of Agnès, screening Thursday (9/17) and Friday (9/18). The movie looks back over almost six decades of artistic activity through film clips, photographs and present-day sequences, and the filmmaker grounds her memories in her childhood holidays and wartime exile by the sea. Ohio State taps new leader for strategic enrollment planning

Ohio State has selected M. Dolan Evanovich as vice president for strategic enrollment planning. In the position, he will be responsible for attracting and retaining the highest quality student body. Evanovich fills an expanded role created by the retirement later this year of Martha Garland, who has served as vice provost for enrollment services and dean for undergraduate education. Previously the vice president for enrollment planning, management and institutional research at the University of Connecticut, Evanovich has vast experience in all aspects of undergraduate student enrollment. FLU VACCINE RESEARCH STUDY. The Ohio State University Rardin Family Practice is conducting a flu vaccine research study for people 65 and older. Important changes to time and pattern: OWL (9/17) and Student (9/20) move-in; tow away zones listed

OWL Move-In will take place 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday (9/17) and Student Move-In is set for 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday (9/20). University personnel working on these days are asked to plan for early arrival to campus to avoid peak traffic flow, to anticipate delay in any movement about campus, and are strongly encouraged to remain parked for the entire day, when possible. Additionally, parking is restricted during Sunday’s Student Move-In and many campus streets will be closed to through traffic in order to assist returning students in gaining access to their residence halls. Volunteers needed for President’s Convocation Sept. 21

The President’s Convocation is set for 10:30 a.m. Monday (9/21) in St. John Arena and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and First Year Experience is seeking faculty, staff and students to fill a number of volunteer roles — from cheerers in Ohio Stadium to greeters and program distributors at St. John Arena. Volunteers are needed from 9-11 a.m. at St. John Arena and from 11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Ohio Stadium. To volunteer, RSVP to mailto:convocation@osu.edu with your shift availability. Vacation Donation Policy revised to address needs of faculty and staff

The university’s Vacation Donation Policy (#6.27a) has been revised to allow faculty and staff to donate vacation time to an immediate family member regardless of where she or he is employed at the university. The revised policy became effective on Wednesday (7/1). Previously, the policy specified that faculty and staff could only donate vacation time to another faculty or staff member within the same college or vice presidential unit. Student Health Insurance selection/waiver process on SIS deadline extended

Luc Tuymans show opens at the Wex Sept. 17

Franklin County Master Gardener training available

Franklin County Master Gardener training will be offered evenings and weekends February through April, 2010 at Ohio State. Pregnancy-Postpartum Depression workshops Sept. 22

The College of Social Work is sponsoring "Pregnancy-Postpartum Depression Part 1: Identification and Assessment Training," from 9 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Tuesday (9/22) in 115 Stillman Hall. Earn 3 CEUs. Mood and anxiety disorders are the most common complication of childbirth, occurring in one of every five to eight mothers. Most are undiagnosed and untreated, causing families to suffer in silence. Part 2 of the workshop, "Elements of Recovery" will take place from 1-4:15 p.m. Tuesday (9/22) in 115 Stillman Hall. Sessions are open to the public. Sept. 27: BuckeyeThon sponsors 5K walk/run on campus

BuckeyeThon, a student philanthropy at Ohio State, is sponsoring Miracle Miles 5k Walk/Run around campus on Sunday (9/27).
