Headline newsROSOL APPOINTED TO NATIONAL USDA ADVISORY BOARDTom Rosol, dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, was appointed by Secretary
of Agriculture Charles Conner recently to represent the American Colleges of
Veterinary Medicine on the National Agricultural Research, Extension, Education,
and Economics Advisory Board for three years. The NAREEEAB provides advice
to the Secretary of Agriculture and land-grant colleges and universities on
top priorities and policies for food and agricultural research, education,
extension and economics. Each of the 31 board members represents a specific
category of U.S. agricultural stakeholders, as mandated by Congress. The advisory
board also consults with appropriate agricultural committees of the U.S. Congress. Read
more > GRANT PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT SERIES - NIH SUBMISSION PROCESSThe College of Medicine’s Office of Research is sponsoring a series
of Grant Proposal Development events in collaboration with the Research Foundation’s
Office of Training, Education and Communication. The next event of the series
takes a look at the National Institutes of Health’s grant submission
process and will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday (10/31) at 115 Biomedical

with an open house from
4-6 p.m. today (10/23) in 452 Galvin. The TLTL offers technology, resources
and technical support for current educators, education students
and teacher candidates. The OSU Lima Education
Department Web site is also available as a resource to teachers. The
site includes resources for curriculum alignment activities, announcements
on professional development workshops for educators, contact information for
faculty, and updates on education student and faculty activities. The open

Lesley King Fry (419) 995-8671 LATEST SCOREBOARD FEATURE INVOLVES STUDENT COMEDY TROUPEUniversity Relations has teamed with a student comedy troupe, 8th Floor Improv, to produce a new scoreboard feature to promote good fan behavior. The spot, which debuted in Ohio Stadium during the Saturday (10/20) Homecoming game, is part of the "Best Fans" initiative led by the Sportsmanship Council, a student organization. View the spot ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY CHEMICAL REDISTRIBUTION PROGRAMThe Office of Environmental Health and Safety’s Chemical Redistribution
program has usable chemicals available at no cost for faculty and staff to
be used on campus for university related purposes. Interested persons must
register on the Environmental Affairs portion of the EH
and S Web site to view the available chemicals. As requests are filled, they will be delivered
within a week. Contact: 292-1284 WOMEN IN SCIENCE DAY PROPOSALS SOUGHTFaculty, staff or other professionals involved in science, technology, mathematics,
engineering or medicine are invited to present workshop proposals for consideration
for the 24th Women in Science Day, to be presented by the Association for Women
in Science of Central Ohio on Friday (3/14/08) at Ohio State. Students in grades
7-10 will attend and the theme is “Rachel Carson: Caring for Nature through

Graduate School of Design, will present “Practice” at 5:30 p.m.
Wednesday (10/24) in the Knowlton Hall Auditorium, as part of the Knowlton
School of Architecture Lecture Series. Meredith engages interdisciplinary discourses,
ranging from art to technology, producing a spectrum of design work. Recently
Meredith was a finalist for the design of the Pentagon 9-11 memorial and the

on Sunday (12/9) in St. John Arena should notify their college or regional

and Slavic Studies, will read “Call Me From the Valley” from the

selections from contemporary British author Susannah Clarke’s Jonathan

of Rivers: Indians, Metis, and Mining in the Western Great Lakes, 1737-1832” and
co-editor of “Midwestern Women: Work, Community, and Leadership at the
Crossroads,” for a lecture from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday (10/24) in 40 Jennings
Hall. Murphy will discuss how Native wives and mothers mediated among many
cultural groups and took active economic and social roles in 19th century America.
