Director and playwright Young Jean Lee returns to the Wex Thursday (10/30)-Sunday (11/2) for the world premiere of THE SHIPMENT, developed with the support of a Wexner Center Residency Award. Lee thrilled audiences in 2007 with her satiric take on Asian and Asian-American identity politics in Songs of the Dragons Flying to Heaven. Ohio State retains rank as nation’s largest campus

For the third consecutive year, Ohio State is the nation’s largest university, based on autumn quarter enrollment figures showing 53,715 undergraduate, graduate and professional students attending the Columbus campus. Enrollment at all Ohio State campuses (Columbus, Lima, Mansfield, Marion, Newark, and Wooster) set a new record this year at 61,568, up two percent over autumn 2007. The previous record for enrollment was 60,589 in autumn 1991. The increase in enrollment was driven by higher student retention and more students transferring to Ohio State. Read more >

LIFESTYLE INTERVENTION STUDY. Volunteers, individuals ages 35-60, are being recruited for a lifestyle intervention study to modify health risk factors. The study will be conducted on the OSU campus during lunch time. Participation in the study will last approximately 12 weeks. Several blood samples and filling out of questionnaires will be required. Study: Voters in battleground states more ambivalent about presidential candidates

Heavy advertising by both Democratic and Republican presidential candidates may actually make voters in battleground states more confused about which candidate to vote for, a new study suggests. A nationwide study found that voters in heavily contested states like Florida and Ohio become more ambivalent when they are exposed to a lot of opposing messages from the two candidates, according to Luke Keele, co-author of the study and assistant professor of political science at Ohio State. Today: Gebreyes to discuss veterinary public health in East Africa

Wondossen Gebreyes, OSU associate professor in the Department of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, will deliver "Research and Training Capacity Building of Veterinary Public Health in East Africa" from noon-1 p.m. today (10/22) in 122 Oxley Hall. East Africa, like many parts of the developing world, faces a variety of health problems that affect both human and animal populations. Oct. 23 ReadAloud features "How to Write About Africa”

ReadAloud weekly programming continues from 3-4 p.m. Thursday (10/23) at the Wexner Center Cafe as Mark Moritz, Department of Anthropology, presents "How to Write About Africa,” an essay by Binyavanga Wainaina, published in 2005 in Granta 92: The View from Africa. Veteran ReadAloud participant Jason Payne, Department of Comparative Studies, will conclude the program with his uniquely entertaining selections. Free refreshments. Big Ten Network to televise Game Day, Tailgate shows live from OSU

The Big Ten Network will send its Big Ten Football Saturday Game Day set and Big Ten Friday Night Tailgate to Columbus this weekend. Airing at 11 p.m. ET, Friday Night Tailgate gets a taste of the Homecoming Week atmosphere at Ohio State as the Buckeyes and their fans get ready for Saturday’s game against Penn State. Fans should arrive at the south side of St. John Arena at 6 p.m. ET Friday (10/24) for FNY; be a part of the Saturday Game Day Set, from 11 a.m.-noon Saturday (10/25) at the South side of Converse Hall/ROTC Building.

Ohio State's Africa Network Autumn Tea Oct. 28

Ohio State's Africa Network is hosting its Autumn Tea on Tuesday (10/28) at the Wexner Film/Video Theater. A networking reception begins at 5:30 p.m. The program begins at 6 p.m., featuring a preview of a documentary film produced and directed by Janet Parrott, assistant professor in the Department of Theatre, about the effective work of hospice in South Africa. Visit the new YourPlanForHealth.com powered by WebMD on Wednesday (10/29) to experience a personalized one-stop-shop. Once registered for the site, you can schedule a biometric screening, complete your Personal Health Assessment, track incentive points through the Faculty and Staff Incentive Program, receive customized information based on your current health status and more. Watch out for your eight-digit pin letter, in the mail, a few days prior to the site going live. This pin letter must be used to register for the new site.

Eye Run/Walk for Sight on campus Nov. 1

The public is invited to participate in the Eye Run/Walk for Sight on Saturday (11/1) starting at the RPAC. Registration begins at 9 a.m. The 5-mile run follows the Olentangy Running Trail; walkers explore the heart of campus. Join the Havener Eye Institute at Ohio State in support for ophthalmology international missions. Staff Career Development Grant application deadline Oct. 27

Staff Career Development Grants of up to $500 each are awarded annually to offset education and training costs needed to further staff career goals and professional development. To be eligible, you must be a regular full-time or part-time staff member and have at least two years of continuous employment with Ohio State. Applications are available online and are due Monday (10/27). The grants are funded through contributions to the Campus Campaign's Staff Career Development Fund and administered by Human Resources.
