Readey named associate vice president of Facilities Operations and Development

Mary Lynn Readey has been named associate vice president of Facilities Operations and Development, effective immediately. Readey has served as deputy general counsel in the Office of Legal Affairs and recently assumed responsibility for FOD on an interim basis. Much of her professional focus in the last 10 years has been in the area of public construction. She is a past executive director of the Ohio School Facilities Commission, the state agency devoted to construction of K-12 school buildings.

RESEARCH STUDY. Interested in DENTAL IMPLANTS? The OSU Division of Periodontology is conducting several studies on dental implant therapy and is seeking volunteers for participation. The various studies have different purposes, eligibility criteria, and time commitment (duration). Applications sought for director of The Women's Place

Applications are being accepted for director of The Women's Place. Faculty and staff are welcome to apply, and internal candidates are encouraged to apply. The position will be a 12-month, full-time appointment, available Jan. 1, 2010, and salary is negotiable. FLU VACCINE RESEARCH STUDY. The Ohio State University Rardin Family Practice is conducting a flu vaccine research study for people 65 and older. Oct. 8: Mason to present Do Babies Matter in Academia

Mary Ann Mason, professor and co-director of the Center of Economics and Family Security, University of California, Berkeley, School of Law Lecture will deliver “Do Babies Matter in Academia?” at 4 p.m. Thursday (10/8) in the Fawcett Center Auditorium. The career aspirations and trajectories of men and women PhDs diverge strongly in academic institutions, with men over-represented in the professoriate and women over-represented in non-tenure track teaching, administrative, and support positions. Oct. 7: A Brazilian focus for Latin American Film Series

The Center for Latin American Studies launches its autumn quarter film series at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (10/7) in 180 Hagerty Hall with a tribute to São Paulo on the Big Screen: 2006-2008. O Ano em Que Meus Paes Saíram de Férias (The Year My Parents Went on Vacation) is a coming of age story that follows the antics of a 12-year-old boy during the Communist regime in Brazil during the 1970s. Oct. 7: Monica Ponce de Leon to deliver KSA lecture

Monica Ponce de Leon, dean of the University of Michigan's A. Alfred Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, will lecture as part of the Knowlton School of Architecture Territory series on Wednesday (10/7) in the Knowlton Hall Auditorium. This year marks the 22nd Annual National Coming Out Day honoring the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community at Ohio State and nationwide. Anthropology hosts New Fossils and Old Ancestors Oct. 9
