Ohio State to help drive Ohio’s new energy economy as state-designated Center of Excellence
Ohio State has been named an Ohio Center of Excellence in advanced energy by Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland. The selection recognizes Ohio State’s wide range of research expertise in the areas of climate, energy and the environment and ties the university’s work directly to the state’s economic development strategies. Fisher College of Business receives top ranking for social, environmental curriculum
Ohio State’s Fisher College of Business is ranked 24th in the Beyond Grey Pinstripes Global 100 ranking for 2009. More than 149 schools from 24 countries participated, according to the Aspen Institute, which conducts the survey. The ranking survey spotlights innovative full-time MBA programs leading the way in the integration of issues concerning social and environmental stewardship in the curriculum. FLU VACCINE RESEARCH STUDY. The Ohio State University Rardin Family Practice is conducting a flu vaccine research study for people 65 and older. Eligible participants will receive a flu vaccine and be compensated for their time.

New web site on course continuity options during an H1N1 outbreak
In preparation for a severe flu season, the Office of the CIO has developed a concise online resource about using Carmen for course continuity. This web site, designed for people unfamiliar with Carmen, offers best practices for moving portions of courses online, including posting content and lecture material, collecting assignments, and communicating with students about course changes. Benefits Open Enrollment tip: flexible spending account
One of the main decisions employees make each year is whether or not to contribute to a flexible spending account, and if so, how much to contribute. Faculty and staff who are currently enrolled in an FSA must re-enroll during Open Enrollment, http://hr.osu.edu/oe/ if they wish to maintain participation after Jan. 1. Complete your PHA by Nov. 30 to save $240
Remember to complete your Personal Health Assessment by Monday (11/30) to maximize your 2010 medical plan savings. On Jan. 1, 2010 the medical plan premium reduction for completing your PHA will increase to $240. This amount is pro-rated monthly so be sure to complete your PHA by Monday (11/30) to get the full $240. Visit the OSU Urban Arts Space in celebration of The Monuments of Columbus exhibition on view through Saturday (12/12). The exhibition includes inventories, mappings, experimental geographies, sonic tours, and projected futures for the landscape of our city, produced by a community of students, faculty, and collaborators of the Knowlton School of Architecture. Ballengee Morris to present MCC Intergroup Relations Faculty Lecture
The Multicultural Center Intergroup Relations program is presenting its inaugural What's Your Story? Faculty Lecture Series. Faculty will speak about issues related to social justice and identity. Office hours for help with IRB submissions
The Office of Responsible Research Practices holds office hours to help researchers prepare IRB submissions and exemption requests. Sessions are intended to help student and faculty researchers navigate IRB forms, policies and review procedures. The next session for biomedical/cancer researchers will be held from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday (11/4) in 635 Fry Hall. Social Work hosts Prevention Across the Lifespan workshop
