Join us Tuesday (10/25) at 7 p.m. for a conversation with filmmakers Dani Leventhal, a Columbus native, and Jacqueline Goss. Leventhal will present two videos about her troubling and moving experiences in Israel, while Goss will introduce The Observers, a portrait of the harsh yet stunning Mt. Washington, New Hampshire. On Wednesday (10/26) at 7 p.m., Elliott Hundley stops by for an Artist's Talk on his multimedia exhibition The Bacchae currently on view in the Wexner Center galleries. Hear him elaborate on his process and the influence of Greek tragedy on his work.

OSU physicists share decades of discovery

 The world's second-largest particle accelerator may have shut down permanently on Sept. 30, but for Brian Winer and Richard Hughes, the science goes on. The Ohio State physicists — who worked at the particle accelerator at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia, Ill., for more than 25 years — are helping to close a chapter on 20th century physics and open a new chapter to whatever lay beyond.

Benefits Open Enrollment 2012 will take place Wednesday (11/16)-Friday (12/2). Please look for specific Open Enrollment information to be mailed to your home address in November. You are strongly encouraged to review this material and attend an Open Enrollment forum to learn about changes to our benefits plans.  Students in the OSU Glass art program are hosting the annual Great Glass Pumpkin Sale this week: on Thursday (10/27) and Friday (10/28) from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in front of Hopkins Hall. The sale will feature glass pumpkins and gourds all handmade by students in the Glass Program. This year, credit cards will be accepted. This is a great opportunity to pick up some unique holiday gifts while supporting the OSU glass art club.

Oct. 27: Gee, Chatas to discuss 'financing the university' at Town Hall Meeting

 Join President Gordon Gee, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Geoff Chatas, and other university officials at 2 p.m. Thursday (10/27) for a discussion on financially sustaining the university. This Town Hall Meeting is co-hosted by USAC and the Faculty Council. Location is the Saxbe Auditorium in Drinko Hall. This event will also be streamed live at rtsp://streaming1.osu.edu/broadcast/president.rm (Real Media) and mms://streaming1.osu.edu/wmtencoder/president.wm (Windows Media). Guest pianist Harsha Abeyaratne in concert today at 8 p.m.

 Guest pianist Harsha Abeyaratne, associate professor of music at Muskingum University will present a concert today (10/24) at 8 p.m. in Weigel Auditorium. In celebration of the 200th anniversary of the composer's birth, his "mostly Liszt" program will include the composer's Sonata in b minor and Mephisto Waltz. Tickets are available at the door (cash or check only) for $12 general public; $6 senior citizens and students (with ID).

Optometry hosts Optometry & Vision Science Editor-in-Chief

Tony Adams, editor-in-chief of Optometry & Vision Science and professor and dean emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Optometry, will deliver "Hope for Prevention of Diabetic Retinal Complications: the Journey" at 5:15 p.m. today (10/24) in 140 Pfahl Executive Conference Center. Adams is the featured speaker at the third annual Jeffrey and Joyce Myers Lecture Series.

Third Annual Writers Talk Halloween special features students

The third annual Writers Talk Halloween special, features the short story "Hello, Slocum," written by OSU creative writing alumnus Juliet Williams and performed by Fort Hayes theatre students, and contributions from the OSU student group 8th Floor Improv. Ohio State Wind Symphony concert Oct. 25

The Ohio State Wind Symphony will present its first concert of the season at 8 p.m. Tuesday (10/25) in Weigel Auditorium. The program will celebrate the anniversary of well-known compositions by Dahl, Sousa, and Holst, as well as A Percy Grainger Triptych in honor of the 50th anniversary of the composer's death. The Nisonger Center is presenting a day-long open house on Wednesday (11/2) at the Frank Hale Cultural Center for current and future families in its TOPS (Transition Options in Post-Secondary Settings) program for students with intellectual disabilities. TOPS stands for. LeDerick Horne, entrepreneur, playwright, poet will discuss the importance of transition to college and/or employment and the strategies that work to support success. Are you interested in using a Mac but not quite comfortable in the Macintosh environment?
