Ohio State, Iceland's University and Soil Service sign cooperation agreements
As part of its drive to forge lasting global partnerships, Ohio State has signed two memoranda of understanding (MOU) with the University of Iceland and that European island-nation's Soil Conservation Service with the goal of enhancing educational experiences and advancing critical research dealing with climate change, environmental sustainability and food security.
The MOUs were signed during a July visit to Iceland by Ohio State officials, including President Gee.

Moulton develops online financial health check-up tool
A new, free online financial self-assessment tool made available by the National Foundation for Credit Counseling is based on work done in part by Glenn School professor Stephanie Moulton. The MyMoneyCheckUp tool is designed to provide an assessment of a consumer's overall financial health and behavior in four areas of personal finance. This was developed as part of a research project funded by OSU Outreach and Engagement and the Social Security Administration's Financial Literacy Research Consortium

Researchers at OSUMC are conducting an NIH funded study to examine how responses to stressful situations may be related to risk of preterm delivery. Participation involves one visit for 4-4.5 hours. Coca-Cola Sustainability Grants available
The Office of Student Life is offering the Student Sustainability Grant for student-led initiatives to support Ohio State goals to reduce greenhouse gases, conserve resources, and promote sustainability. Seed funding of $500-$30,000 is available to undergraduate, graduate and professional students or student groups for projects that directly contribute to reduced environmental impacts on campus. Completed applications are due Monday (11/28).

Seasonal preparedness info from FOD
- The City of Columbus mandates all privately-owned fire hydrants be pumped free of water from Oct. 15-April 15 every year. Facilities Operations and Development is in the process of winterizing all university fire hydrants. Contact Philllip Reece at 688-3357 or Jeff Mullins at 292-6383 if you need to use a hydrant or you see a hydrant being used.
- FOD maintenance personnel will conduct the annual heating-to-cooling transition in several campus buildings in the weeks to come, necessitating increased activity of FOD maintenance personnel in and around the mechanical spaces of the buildings. Weather variations may cause unanticipated fluctuations to interior temperatures as we progress through this transition. Direct questions to your designated zone leader.

Events this week
Today: Homecoming Parade to impact traffic, bus service
In support of the Homecoming Parade at 6 p.m. today (10/28), several roads, including portions of Cannon Drive, Woodruff Avenue, High Street, and 12th Avenue, will be closed beginning at 5:30 p.m. CABS Service (with the exception of the Med Center Express and Handivan) will be suspended from approximately 5:30-7:30 p.m. Roads will reopen once the parade has finished. Anticipate significant traffic delays in the area during this time.

Halloween HOOT Oct. 29 at Gateway Film Center
Halloween HOOT is set for 10 a.m. Saturday (10/29) at the Gateway Film Center. HOOT is a monthly festival of films, music and activities designed for Central Ohio families and children; the October event features tricks and treats for the whole family, including spooky face painting, a kid-friendly haunted house, Halloween-themed shorts, and more. Admission is free with a suggested donation of a canned good to benefit the Open Shelter. Costumes encouraged.
