Four from Ohio State earn Fulbright Scholar grants
Three Ohio State faculty members and one graduate assistant from have been selected as recipients of prestigious Fulbright fellowships. The Fulbright Scholar Program offers U.S. faculty, administrators and professionals grants to lecture, do research or participate in seminars abroad. Those selected: Angela Kay Brintlinger (associate professor, Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures), Poland; Monika Luiza Brodnicka (senior lecturer, Comparative Studies), Senegal and Burkina Faso; Sarah Cowles Gerhan (assistant professor, Knowlton School of Architecture), Georgia; Sharon Miriam Ross (graduate assistant, Linguistics), Israel.

Urban Arts Space Hosts Show by Faculty, Alumni
Urban Arts Space in downtown Columbus hosts Inosculation through December 14. The exhibition features works by more than 40 artists from Ohio State's Department of Art, past and present, pairing works by current faculty with pieces by alumni. Opening reception November 3, 6-8 pm.

Parking vendor taps familiar face as its leader
When LAZ parking was approved as Ohio State's new parking services operator, the company decided it needed a leader who already knew the ins and outs of the business. It turned to Sarah Blouch, who had built OSU's Transportation and Parking Services into a $36 million operation. Now that the operation has officially been turned over to LAZ's CampusPark division, Blouch says those who park on campus likely will begin to see changes in the way things work — hopefully in a good way.

Dialogue and Discussion Series on Diversity, Oct. 25
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion will host a Dialogue and Discussion Series, offering OSU faculty, staff and students an opportunity to explore topics that impact diversity on the Ohio State campus. This annual discussion series promotes excellence through diversity while enhancing the educational experience for the Ohio State community. The next discussion will be Thursday (10/25) from 3-4 p.m. in 285/289 Student Academic Services Building. Pharmacy Distinguished Lecture to focus on kidney and liver cancer
The College of Pharmacy’s Distinguished Lecture Series presents Sharyn D. Baker, associate faculty member at St. Jude’s Hospital. She will present “Contribution of the Hepatic Uptake Transporters OATP1B1 and OATP1B3 to the Disposition of Sorafenib and Sorafenib-glucuronide." The Science and Impact of Climate Change, Oct. 25
The Byrd Polar Research 2012 Seminar Series welcomes Franco Einaudi who will give a public lecture on Thursday (10/25) entitled “The Science and Impact of Climate Change.” Einaudi is the retired director of Earth Sciences, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. "Who Says Retailing Isn't Rocket Science? Louis Menand to speak on Nov. 14
Harvard English Professor Louis Menand will kick off the Humanities Institute’s Public Humanities Lecture Series on Wednesday (11/14) at 3:30 p.m. in 1120 Thompson Library. Menand will deliver “What Every College Student Needs to Know.” Menand’s book The Metaphysical Club won the Pulitzer Prize for History is 2002. Menand is a staff writer at The New Yorker; his most recent book is The Marketplace of Ideas, on American higher education. A reception will follow.
