Headline newsPROFESSOR GUIDES OSU FORENSIC ARCHAEOLOGY TEAMIn two separate, unsolved murder cases, police have called on Ohio State’s
Forensic Archaeology Cold Case Team to help search for and identify human remains.
The Department of Anthropology formed the team two years ago to provide assistance
to law enforcement and other agencies in the recovery and analysis of human
remains. FACCT is under the direction of Professor Sam Stout and comprises
both undergraduate and graduate students interested in forensic anthropology
who volunteer their time.

EXPLORE CHADWICK ARBORETUM THROUGH LECTURE TODAYDiscover Ohio State’s extensive on-campus “green reserve” in
a free public lecture, “Chadwick Arboretum and Learning Gardens: Your
Public Garden for Education and Respite,” from noon-1 p.m. today (11/2)
in Columbus and Wooster. Mary Maloney, outreach and development coordinator
is the speaker. The arboretum and its learning gardens are on OSU’s agriculture
campus in Columbus, on the west side of the Olentangy River, with major plantings
adjacent to Lane Avenue, Fred Taylor Drive and Woody Hayes Drive. Attend in
244 Kottman Hall or in 121 Fisher Auditorium on the Wooster campus of OARDC.

more > OBSTFELD TO DISCUSS INTERNATIONAL PORTFOLIOS NOV. 5The Department of Economics is hosting the annual Journal of Money, Credit
and Banking Lecture at 3:30 p.m. Monday (11/5) in 437 Arps Hall. Maurice Obstfeld,
the Class of 1958 Professor of Economics at Berkeley and director of the Center
for International and Development Economic Research, will discuss international
portfolios. Obstfeld serves as honorary advisor to the Bank of Japan's Institute
of Monetary and Economic Studies, and is a Fellow of the Econometric Society
and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is active as a research Fellow
of CEPR, a research associate at NBER, and an International Research Fellow
at the Kiel Institute of World Economics. Contact: Alcalde.1@osu.edu UTILITIES COMMUNICATION: MAJOR ELECTRICAL SUBSTATION UPGRADEExtensive work is being done to upgrade the university’s electrical
infrastructure to support the campus for the next 40 years. Though no planned
power outages will be required to complete construction, the normal backup
power transmission circuits will be unavailable. Phase 1 of the outage will
be from Monday (11/5)-Friday (11/9). AEP will reenergize the dual feed for
the weekend of the OSU vs. Illinois game. If needed, Phase 2 of the construction
will continue Sunday (11/11)-Friday (11/16). Extensive planning continues to
minimize the overall outage duration as well as to plan the work tasks to allow
for prompt power restoration in the event of an unexpected failure during the

free community dialogue on physical, social and behavioral science, called
Science Café at 7 p.m. Tuesday (11/6) at Rise & Dine Restaurant,
Legacy Crossing, 142 McMahon Blvd in Marion. Gordon Aubrecht, professor of
physics at OSU Marion, will discuss the findings of the Intergovernmental Panel
on Climate Change that shared this year’s Nobel Peace Prize for its efforts
to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change,
and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such

of her watercolors, “A Sense of Place” on display through Friday
(11/30) at Northwood ARTSpace, 2231 N. High St., room 100. Her paintings are
of landscapes and cityscapes of places she has visited in old and New Mexico
and sites in Italy. A reception will take place from 6-8 p.m. Friday (11/9).
Regular viewing hours at Northwood ARTSpace are Fridays from 4-7 p.m., first
Saturdays from 4-7 p.m. and other times when the meeting room is not in use.

100 to search for the calendar). COLLEGE OF LAW SEEKING MOCK TRIAL JURORSThe Clinical Programs at the Moritz College of Law is seeking faculty and
staff to serve as jurors at mock trials to be held in its Moot Court Room.
The judges in the cases will be sitting judges from around the state of Ohio.
Jurors will have an opportunity to hear an entire case and then talk with the
law students and judges after the case about their verdict and impressions
of the trial. Mock trials will begin at 4 p.m. Monday (11/26), Thursday (11/29),
Monday (12/3) and Tuesday (12/4) in room 249 College of Law. If interested,
