Headline newsMUELLER HONORED FOR PUBLIC OPINION RESEARCHJohn Mueller, Woody Hayes Chair of National Security Studies, has received
the first Warren J. Mitofsky Award for Excellence in Public Opinion Research.
The award is given annually by the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research
at the University of Connecticut. It recognizes Mueller’s book “War,
Presidents and Public Opinion” (John Wiley, 1973) as a trail-blazing
work in the field of public opinion research. The book addresses fundamental
issues of methodology and measurement, and analyzes public opinion through
World War I and II, and the Korean and Vietnam wars. Mueller will be honored
at an awards dinner on Thursday (11/8) in New York. Read

HARVARD ECONOMIST TO DISCUSS MARKET FAILURE, DESIGN NOV. 13The Behavioral Decision Making colloquium series continues at 6 p.m. Tuesday
(11/13) in 20 Page Hall with “Market Failure and Market Design,” presented
by Alvin Roth, the George Gund Professor of Economics and Business Administration
in the Department of Economics at Harvard University and in the Harvard Business
School. Roth was instrumental in developing Kidney Paired Donations, a system
to increase the number of kidneys available to those who need a kidney transplant.
He will draw upon his extensive research on the U.S. markets for kidney exchange,
labor markets for doctors and lawyers, and school choice in New York City and

OSU Healthcare IT Innovation Symposium on Monday (12/3) at the OSU Biomedical
Research Tower. The event will feature interactive learning, discussion and

view of life on the campaign trail when she speaks at 4 p.m. Thursday (11/15)
in Weigel Hall Auditorium, as part of the annual Barbara K. Fergus Women in
Leadership Lecture Series. A nationally syndicated columnist for The Plain
Dealer, Schultz in June published “...and His Lovely Wife: A Memoir from
the Woman Beside the Man,” which chronicles her experiences working on
her husband Sherrod Brown’s successful race for U.S. Senate. Reservations

Kellogg Foundation Engagement Award. Regional winners will receive $9,000 and
be eligible for the NASULGC C. Peter Magrath Community Engagement Award. The
national winners will receive an additional $20,000. Apply

SCHEDULE A FREE HEALTH SCREENING THROUGH DEC. 14Health screening appointments are available through Friday (12/14) to allow faculty and staff to complete their Personal Health Assessment online and qualify for the $10 monthly or $4.62 biweekly health plan premium discount beginning in 2008.
