KILLOREN RECEIVES NATIONAL RESEARCH ADMINISTRATION AWARD

Robert Killoren, associate vice president for Research Administration at Ohio State, was honored by the National Council of University Research Administrators with its most prestigious award, presented at the organization’s annual meeting on Monday (11/5) in Washington, D.C. Killoren received the Outstanding Achievement in Research Administration Award in recognition for his work with the National Academies in promoting university-industry research collaborations and streamlining federal grants management processes. RETIREMENT INCOME PLANNING WORKSHOP. RESEARCHER TO BE FEATURED FRIDAY ON GOOD MORNING AMERICA

An Ohio State ergonomics researcher and his colleagues are scheduled to appear Friday (11/9) on the television show Good Morning America . William Marras, professor of industrial, welding and systems engineering and director of the university's Center for Occupational Health in Automotive Manufacturing, guided Good Morning America anchor Sam Champion through a demonstration of COHAM technology earlier this week. The center explores ergonomic issues that affect autoworker health and safety.

This investigational drug is the first in a new class of antidepressants which targets melatonin. All eligible participants will receive study medication and study-related care at no cost for up to 18 months. INTERACT THEATER TROUPE PERFORMS AT WOSU@COSI

WOSU Public Media is partnering with the Department of Theatre to present an InterACT Theater Troupe performance of “Views from The War” at 1:30 p.m. Sunday (11/11) in the Battelle Studio at WOSU@COSI. The show incorporates the real voices of veterans from central Ohio captured during the Columbus World War II Roadshow event held in June. The public is invited to be a part of this special live performance in honor of Veterans Day. There is no charge to attend, but reservations are suggested at 292-9678. After the performance guests may preview WOSU TV’s “Honor Flight,” that documents the travel of 32 Ohio WWII veterans as they visited the WWII memorial recently. “Honor Flight” premieres at 10:30 p.m. Monday (11/12) on WOSU TV.

SHOW YOUR SCARLET AND GRAY THIS FRIDAY BY GOING GREEN. TAKE THE RECYCLED PAPER CHALLENGE. Look for the tent by the Numbers Garden from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday (11/9). A free ream of recycled paper will be given to the first 1,000 challengers who can successfully tell the difference between recycled and non-recycled paper. This promotion is part of the Office of Business and Finance's efforts to encourage departments to make the switch from non-recycled to recycled copy paper. Yaromir Steiner, founder and CEO of Steiner and Associates, will present “The Evolution of American Land Use” on Friday (11/9) in 190 Knowlton Hall. The lecture is part of a kick-off event to introduce the Urban Land Institute’s student urban design competition. “Evaluating the Impact of Your Partnership,” a workshop presented by University Outreach and Engagement, the Service-Learning Initiative, Continuing Education, and OSU CARES/OSU Extension, will take place from noon-1 p.m. Wednesday (11/14) in 400 Stillman Hall. Understanding the impact of your program can help you develop more effective programs, report results to funders, and learn from your experiences. The workshop will provide an overview of program impact evaluation and give you access to sammie.osu.edu, a webportal to help you develop an evaluation plan. Bring your lunch. Register online

FREE BEGINNER’S BIRD WALK AT WOOSTER CAMPUS

The Secrest Arboretum in Wooster is offering a free Beginner’s Bird Walk from 9-11 a.m. Saturday (11/10) that will be led by members of the Greater Mohican Audubon Society. Participants can see what birds come through in the fall and stay all winter and also learn what birds are common in northern Ohio.
