Ohio State Trustees to meet Nov. 6-7
Ohio State's Board of Trustees and its committees will meet Thursday (11/6) and Friday (11/7) at the Longaberger Alumni House. All committee meetings will occur on Thursday (11/6). On Friday (11/7), the formal board meeting will convene at 8:30 a.m., recess into executive session, and reconvene at 1 p.m. after lunch. Read more >

LIFESTYLE INTERVENTION STUDY. Volunteers, individuals ages 35-60, are being recruited for a lifestyle intervention study to modify health risk factors. The study will be conducted on the OSU campus during lunch time. Participation in the study will last approximately 12 weeks. Several blood samples and filling out of questionnaires will be required. Today: Breakfast of Science Champions returns to campus
More than 320 middle school children from around Ohio will visit Ohio State today (11/5) to participate in the Breakfast of Science Champions, which allows them to explore science, math and engineering. Students will spend the morning on campus meeting faculty and graduate students from the sciences, mathematics and engineering, touring labs and participating in a variety of demonstrations. Today: Latin American Studies film series features “Nazarín"
The Center for Latin American Studies is featuring “Nazarín” as part of its Mexican film series at 7:30 p.m. today (11/5) in 180 Hagerty Hall. The movie is about a priest who is cast out of his church for helping a prostitute, and then begins to question his faith as a series of events find him surrounded by hatred and humiliation. Nazarín is based on the novel by Benito Pérez Galdós, 1959. All films are free and have English subtitles. View a complete list of films at http://clas.osu.edu.
OSU Equine Program hosts annual open house Nov. 7
Faculty, staff and students and their friends and family are invited to the second annual Ohio State Equine Program Open House from 1-5 p.m. Friday (11/7) at the Ohio State Equine Center, located off Sawmill Road at 3658 Kays Ave., Dublin. Learn about the Equine Science Program and horse ownership. A silent auction will benefit the OSU Equine Program and its goal of excellence in equine education. Chang is Chinese Studies lecture series guest Nov. 7
The Institute for Chinese Studies “Future of the Past” Lecture Series continues at 2:30 p.m. Friday (11/7) in 136 Jennings Hall when Ting Chang, assistant professor of Critical Histories of the Arts at Carnegie Mellon University, delivers “China through the Peephole: The Representations of China in 19th Century European Travel Narratives, Collections and Performances.” Admission is free and all are welcome. Annual Celebrity Quilt Auction at the ‘Shoe Nov. 6
The Huntington Club at Ohio Stadium will host the seventh Annual Celebrity Quilt Auction at the ‘Shoe at 6:15 p.m. Thursday (11/6). Preview the quilts at 5 p.m. or preview online. Local celebrities auction off donated quilts in support of Kids ‘n Kamp, the lifeline of support for families touched by Childhood Cancer. Celebrity presenters include President E. Changes in research subject payment procedures
A revised university policy provides updated information about payments to human subjects for research participation. Cash or checks can now be used instead of the university payroll system to make payments to research subjects who are OSU employees. Click here for website instructions and forms for submitting amendments for a consent addendum (for studies currently providing payments to OSU employee-subjects) and/or for revisions to current consent forms for new participants (for studies open to enrollment and offering subject payments). Join President E. Gordon Gee and Associate Vice President for Human Resources Larry Lewellen, for “Take a Lap (around the Oval) with Gee and Lewellen” at noon Friday (11/14) on the steps in front of Bricker Hall to “Hit the Road with the Buckeyes.” Brutus Buckeye, OSU cheerleaders and Buckeye Brass Band will be onsite to generate Buckeye excitement as the OSU football team prepares for its final road game of the season, against Illinois. 2008 Buckeyes For Life Challenge ends Nov. 21
The 2008 Buckeyes For Life Challenge, designed to motivate and spread awareness to Buckeye fans across the state about the importance of registering as an organ and tissue donor, ends at noon Friday (11/21). Buckeyes For Life and the OSU Students for Organ Donation chapter are asking all fans to help Ohio State beat “the team up north” off the field, and help save lives. Anyone can participate.
