ATECH program recognized by Ohio House of Representatives

Ohio State's ATECH program was recognized recently by the Ohio House of Representatives for its innovative and significant contribution to the growth of Ohio’s economy. The commendation was presented by state representative Jim Hughes (22nd House District). The ATECH program connects the commercial interests of OSU’s College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences to industry and industry to the College. The knowledge, discoveries, inventions and expertise within the college have tremendous commercial value which can be a major launching pad for new Ohio businesses. LIFESTYLE INTERVENTION STUDY. Volunteers, individuals ages 35-60, are being recruited for a lifestyle intervention study to modify health risk factors. The study will be conducted on the OSU campus during lunch time. Participation in the study will last approximately 12 weeks. Several blood samples and filling out of questionnaires will be required. Beat Michigan Week activities include pep rally, blood battle

Starting with the Annual Red Cross Blood Battle that began Sunday (11/16) and concluding with the Buckeye Battle Cry Brunch at 9 a.m. Saturday (11/22) at the RPAC, the university has a full slate of events to get fans geared up for the big game vs. the Wolverines at noon Saturday (11/22). Don’t miss the Pep Rally at 5 p.m. Friday (11/21) at the site of Ohio State’s original football field, Ohio Field (corner of 18th and High). OSU HONEY BEE LAB's ANNUAL HOLIDAY HONEY SALE. Call for nominations for outreach and engagement awards

Nominations are invited for the regional Outreach Scholarship W.K. Kellogg Foundation Engagement Award. Two projects will be submitted by President E. Gordon Gee for this regional award. Regional winners will receive $9,000 and be eligible for the C. Peter Magrath University Community Engagement Award. The national winners will receive an additional $20,000. To apply, submit a 500-word abstract that summarizes the engagement partnership and 2-3 statements that summarize the impacts using the nomination form available online. Deadline for OSU nominees is Friday (12/19).

IRB forms help session Nov. 19

Investigators, graduate students and research staff are encouraged to attend a help session on IRB applications from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday (11/19) in 113 Research Foundation. Office of Responsible Research Practices staff will provide an overview of the Initial Review of Human Subjects Research application and will answer questions regarding other IRB forms. This session is targeted to researchers who submit materials to the Biomedical and Cancer IRBs, but is open to all human subjects researchers. Register online. Weinberg to discuss Race and Gender Gaps in Earnings

Bruce Weinberg, OSU associate professor of Economics and Public Administration will present "The Race and Gender Gaps in Earnings: What's Happened and What Does it Say?" at 6 p.m. Wednesday (11/19) at the Department of African American and African Studies Community Extension Center, 905 Mt. Vernon Ave. The talk will highlight the increased importance of interpersonal skills in the labor market, which have favored women but hurt African Americans, especially African American men. Volunteers needed to serve Thanksgiving dinner to campus community

Over 100 volunteers are needed to help serve Thanksgiving dinner to 1,500 Ohio State students, faculty and staff unable to go home for the holiday on Thursday (11/27) at the RPAC. Ohio Union Garage South opens Nov. 17

The new 800 parking space Ohio Union Garage South opens today (11/17). The garage will be reserved for hourly visitor parking during the day until 4 p.m. In the evening, garage access will open to OSU faculty, staff and student keycard parking from 4 p.m.-3 a.m. The existing Ohio Union Garage North will be reserved for OSU faculty, staff and student keycard garage access parking from 3 a.m.-4 p.m. and will be open to hourly visitor parking from 4 p.m.-3 a.m. Read more >
