Headline newsOSU study: Legal drug similar to marijuana could curb Alzheimer's diseaseResearch led by Gary Wenk, OSU professor of psychology, suggests that the development of a legal drug that contains certain properties similar to those in marijuana might help prevent or delay the onset of Alzheimer's disease. Any new drug's properties would resemble those of tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, the main psychoactive substance in the cannabis plant, but would not share its high-producing effects. Read more >
OSC’s Ralph Regula School of Computational Science receives national awardSteven Gordon, director and the Ralph Regula School of Computational Science, an initiative of the Ohio Supercomputer Center, this week received the 2008 Undergraduate Computational Engineering and Sciences award from the Krell Institute for its innovative baccalaureate minor program. Located on west campus, OSC provides Ohio industries and universities, including Ohio State, with a reliable high performance computing and networking infrastructure. Through the Ralph Regula School, students at any participating institution can register for courses offered on their home campus or via distance learning or courses offered at any other participating campus. Kevin Cordi, StoryTeller Artist-in-Residence, will be available at this and other MCC events throughout the year, helping Ohio State and Columbus community members craft and tell their stories of transformation and collecting stories for the OSU StoryBox.
