To better reflect its full breadth of service to the university and its efforts in transforming workplace wellness and disease prevention, OSU Managed Health Care Systems has changed its name to The Ohio State University Health Plan Inc. An affiliated entity of the university, OSU Health Plan is contracted through Human Resources to provide the medical and pharmacy plans, establish the provider network, coordinate claims processing through NGS American Inc., and consult on overall health benefits and plan designs that serve nearly 23,000 employees and more than 50,000 lives. This level of separation from the university assures confidentiality of employee health and medical information.

In addition, OSU Health Plan houses the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program, University Health Connection campus clinic and provides wellness services, such as flu vaccinations, biometric health screenings, Lunch and Learn workshops and health fairs, through Your Plan for Health. RESEARCH STUDY. Interested in DENTAL IMPLANTS? The OSU Division of Periodontology is conducting several studies on dental implant therapy and is seeking volunteers for participation. The various studies have different purposes, eligibility criteria, and time commitment (duration). Today: Town Hall meeting to discuss One University Framework master planning

The university is hosting a Town Hall meeting at noon today (11/4) in the Thompson Library Campus Reading Room (1120) to present initial findings and get feedback from students, faculty and staff on the developing One University Framework. The project is based on President Gee’s six strategic goals and is intended to establish a flexible, long-range physical vision for the campus to enable knowledge advancement for the next several decades. This planning is new and different because it is an integrated framework that aligns the programmatic, physical, and fiscal needs and issues of the university. Change of venue: Mershon faculty panel to discuss U.S. options in Afghanistan

The "Afghanistan: The Choices" discussion scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday (11/9) has been moved from Psychology Building 035 to the Saxbe Auditorium in Moritz College of Law. Panelists include Richard Herrmann, director of the Mershon Center; John Mueller, Woody Hayes Chair of National Security Studies; Peter Mansoor, Raymond E. Mason Chair in Military History; and Alam Payind, director of the Middle East Studies Center. Former Open Line host Fred Andrle will moderate. New support fund for OSU students who have experienced sexual violence

A Sexual Violence Assistance Fund has been created by the Office of Student Life in partnership with Undergraduate Student Government. It provides financial assistance for students who have experienced sexual assault, intimate partner abuse and/or stalking. Current Ohio State students can apply for up to $500 to assist with expenses such as replacement items, uncovered and documented medical expenses, emergency housing and other associated costs. Leadership conference seeks breakout session proposals

OSU Extension’s Leadership for Tomorrow: Strategies for Resurgence Conference is scheduled for Wednesday (4/21)-Thursday (4/22) in Columbus. Today: Dentistry students offer free exams and x-rays

College of Dentistry students will offer free dental exams and free dental x-rays from 5-7 p.m. today (11/4) in 1038A Postle Hall. Must be at least 18 years of age and in good health. Each participant will receive one free dental exam, two free dental x-rays, and an evaluation for additional free treatments. The event is open to the public.
