Ohio State joins national volunteer recruitment registry
Ohio State's Center for Clinical and Translational Science is one of 51 participants in the first national, disease-neutral, volunteer recruitment registry, ResearchMatch.org. Central Ohioans wishing to participate in research studies can now connect via the not-for-profit Web site with researchers from across the country. ResearchMatch is the product of the Clinical and Translational Science Awards Consortium, which is led by the National Center for Research Resources, a part of the National Institutes of Health. DEPRESSION RESEARCH STUDY: The Ohio State University Department of Psychiatry is currently enrolling for a research study to evaluate an investigational drug for depression. Participants must be 18-60 years old, currently depressed, and have had at least one previous episode of depression. Participants will receive study-related care and study drug (or placebo) at no cost and receive some compensation for their time. Events this week Today: Lyons gives award lecture at Byrd Polar Research Center
Among the highlights at this year's meeting of the Geological Society of America in Portland, Ore., was a lecture by Berry Lyons, director of the School of Earth Sciences. The Geochemical Society, which meets jointly with GSA, named Lyons its 2009 F. Earl Ingerson Lecturer. Lyons will present his Ingerson Lecture for the Ohio State community at 3:30 p.m. today (11/13) at Byrd Polar Research Center (240 Scott Hall). View an abstract of the lecture. Today: Reducing preterm births topic of talk
Melanie Lutenbacher, associate professor of nursing and pediatrics and director of the PhD in Nursing Science Program at Vanderbilt University will present “Tennessee Connection for Better Birth Outcomes: An ongoing clinical study to reduce preterm births,” at 3 p.m. today (11/13) at the College of Nursing, 264 Newton Hall. The event is open to the public. Tennessee Connections for Better Birth Outcomes is a research program for women who have experienced a prior preterm birth. Critic’s choice: Andrle to introduce Seconds at the Wexner today
Fred Andrle, longtime popular host of WOSU’s Open Line radio program, will introduce one of his favorite films at the Wexner Center today (11/13): John Frankenheimer’s classic 1966 film Seconds, starring Rock Hudson as a man in search of a new identity. Thomas Hellman, principal of Hellman Consulting LLC and former executive vice-president of Limited Brands, will present "International Sustainability: Opportunities and Challenges – A Corporate Perspective," from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Monday (11/16) in the Knowlton School of Architecture Auditorium. WOSU will celebrate the spirit of Ohio State University football with television specials to air during Beat Michigan Week.
