Gateway Film Center to partner with Wexner Center
Just announced: The movie theater at South Campus Gateway will be rebranded in mid-December as the Gateway Film Center and will join forces with the Wexner Center starting in early January to significantly expand the range and quality of film offerings in the region. The Gateway will augment its current programming of the best of mainstream film with two screens devoted to independent, international and cutting-edge titles, programmed by the Wexner Center. Tiberi, Brass to receive inaugural James Hope Awards
Congressman Pat Tiberi (R-OH), a member of the Ways and Means Committee, and Alan W. Brass, chairman of the OSU Board of Trustee’s Medical Affairs Committee, will be the inaugural recipients of the James Hope Award presented by the OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute during a ceremony at 10 a.m. today (11/16) in 518 James Cancer Hospital. The award will be presented annually to individual(s) or organization(s) committed to the advancement of the highest quality of cancer care, education and research and/or improving healthcare access for cancer patients in Ohio and beyond. DEPRESSION RESEARCH STUDY: The Ohio State University Department of Psychiatry is currently enrolling for a research study to evaluate an investigational drug for depression. Participants must be 18-60 years old, currently depressed, and have had at least one previous episode of depression. Participants will receive study-related care and study drug (or placebo) at no cost and receive some compensation for their time. Distinguished Service Award

Events this week Pep rally kicks off Beat Michigan Week events
Beat Michigan Week is Sunday (11/15)-Saturday (11/21). View a full calendar of events at http://beatmichigan.osu.edu/Events.aspx. Highlights include the Beat Michigan Pep Rally at 7:30 p.m. today (11/16) at the Newport Music Hall, and the Beat Michigan Brunch and Viewing Party, starting at 10 a.m. Saturday (11/21) at the Tom Davis Gym, RPAC. Students enjoy free brunch food and activities, and can view the game on a giant screen with free pizza provided at halftime. OSU Marion/Delaware Center host presentation by author and cultural critic
Ohio State Marion invites the campus and the community to a free “edutainment” event on campus on Tuesday (11/17) featuring author and cultural critic Stephen Earley Jordan II. He will present, “Are You Bougie?” at 7 p.m. at Morrill Hall Auditorium and at 12:30 p.m. at the OSU Delaware Center. The presentation confronts issues of race, class, and gender, and echoes his literary works of creative nonfiction, poetry, and essays. It was specifically designed for colleges and universities. Overview of changes to IRB forms Nov. 18
Investigators, graduate students and research staff are encouraged to attend a help session on changes to the Institutional Review Board applications from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday (11/18) in 113 Research Foundation. Office of Responsible Research Practices staff will discuss the changes to the Initial Review of Human Subjects Research application and will answer questions regarding other IRB forms. Targeted to researchers who submit materials to the Behavioral and Social Sciences IRB, but open to all human subjects researchers. Registration requested. Prescription and Over-the-Counter Drugs
workshop Nov. 19
The College of Social Work is hosting "Overlooked and Underestimated: Prescription and Over-the-Counter Drugs,"
from 9 a.m.-4:15 p.m. Thursday (11/19) in 115 Stillman Hall. CEU/clock hours available. The workshop will address the prevalence of prescription and over-the-counter drug abuse, prevention tools to protect youth and adults from careless and more intentional abuse, and the development of strategies to raise awareness of this issue with consumers.
