STATE TRUSTEES TO MEET DEC. 6, 7
The Ohio State Board of Trustees and its committees will meet Thursday (12/6)
and Friday (12/7).
Committee meetings will occur from 11 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
Thursday in three separate locations. On Friday, the formal board meeting will
convene at 8:30 a.m. at Longaberger Alumni House, and recess into executive
session from 8:30-11 a.m. After lunch, the board meeting will reconvene at

SUBURBS DEAL WITH INCREASE IN SUPER-SIZED ‘McMANSIONS’
About two-thirds of America's largest cities have reported the appearance
of “McMansions” - new, much larger houses built on lots that once
contained more modest homes, and the growth is spurring local lawmakers to
find ways to regulate super-sized houses. Jack Nasar, professor of city and
regional planning, Jennifer Evans-Cowley, associate professor of city and regional
planning, and graduate student Vicente Mantero conducted a study recently to
learn more about the prevalence of McMansions and what cities are doing to

DEMOCRATIC
PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE TO AIR TODAY ON WOSU 820 AM
WOSU 820 AM will air the national Democratic Presidential debate during a
special edition of Talk of the Nation from 2-4 p.m. today (12/4). The debate
will broadcast live from the State Historical Museum in Des Moines, with NPR
News journalists and hosts Steve Inskeep, Michele Norris and Robert Siegel
as moderators. The two-hour event will offer the first audio-only debate of
the presidential race. All major Democratic candidates are confirmed to attend.
The debate will be streamed live at npr.org and wosu.org.

CONVERSATIONS WORKSHOP FOR DEANS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS
“Working through Difficult Conversations,” a workshop for department
chairs, school and center directors, associate and assistant deans, will be
held from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday (1/23/08) and 9-11 a.m. Thursday (1/24/08) in
Suite 430 at 1590 N. High St. Select one workshop date. Enrollment is limited
to 15 participants for each session. All who enroll will receive a copy of “Fierce

SOUGHT FOR GRADUATE ASSOCIATE TEACHING AWARD
The Graduate Associate Teaching Award nomination period is open until Thursday
(12/6). The annual Graduate School award honors Graduate Teaching Associates
who demonstrate excellence in teaching. Nominations can be submitted by students,
peers, faculty and staff. Self-nominations are also accepted. Eligibility
requirements and other details are available online.

WINTER BREAK SERVICE ANNOUNCED
During winter break,
Friday (12/7)-Tuesday (1/1/08), CABS will run reduced bus service on weekdays,
