WOSU 820 AM’s OPEN LINE TO FEATURE PRESIDENT GEE

OSU President E. Gordon Gee will be a guest on WOSU 820 AM’s Open Line on Wednesday (12/12). He will appear during the 10-11 a.m. hour and discuss education in America and goals for Ohio State. Individuals with specific questions they’d like to ask Gee are encouraged to visit www.youtube.com/group/WOSUask between now and Tuesday (12/11). Some of the questions will be posed to him during the broadcast. The public is invited to be a part of the studio audience during the live broadcast. CARMEN UPDATES ON THE WAY DEC. 14-17

Carmen will be unavailable from 7 p.m. Friday (12/14) until 7 a.m. Monday (12/17) for a system upgrade. When service returns, Carmen will offer several new features, including enhancements to the Grades, Discussion, Content, and Groups tools. NOMINATE OUTSTANDING OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT PROJECTS FOR AWARDS

Ohio State nominations are invited for the regional Outreach Scholarship W.K. Kellogg Foundation Engagement Award. Two of these projects will be submitted by President E. Gordon Gee for this regional award. Regional winners will receive $9,000 and be eligible for the NASULGC C. Peter Magrath Engagement Award. The national winners will receive an additional $20,000. Apply online by Friday (12/21) by submitting a 500 word abstract that summarizes the engagement partnership. See information on last year’s award nominees.

MARION CAMPUS HOSTS HOLIDAY CONCERT DEC. 13

As part of the Five Nights on Campus series at the Ohio State Marion campus, the Central Ohio Symphony will perform a holiday concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday (12/13) in Morrill Hall Auditorium. It will include seasonal favorites, light classics and holiday music from different cultures. Marion campus faculty and staff are eligible for $8 discounted tickets. PRESENTATION PROPOSALS SOUGHT FOR OUTREACH CONFERENCE

Proposals for oral and poster presentations are currently being accepted for Outreach Scholarship Conference 2008: Innovation and Leadership for Engagement, to be held Tuesday (10/7/08)-Thursday (10/9/08) at Penn State University. The deadline to apply is Monday (2/25/08). Submission requirements and selection criteria are available online at www.outreachscholarship.org/. The conference is co-sponsored by Ohio State, and the universities of Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina State, Michigan State and Wisconsin-Extension/UW Colleges.

BLOOD DRIVE SET FOR DEC. 6 AT BLANKENSHIP

The OSU Department of Public Safety is sponsoring a Red Cross Blood Drive from 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday (12/6) in 1019 Blankenship Hall. If you have donated on or before Thursday (10/11) you are eligible to participate. Call (800) Give-Life or visit www.givelife.org to schedule an appointment. All donors are eligible to enter a drawing to win a $2,000 travel voucher from AAA.

VAN HALEN TICKETS GO ON SALE SATURDAY

Van Halen and special guest Ky-Mani Marley will perform at Value City Arena at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday (4/1/08). Tickets ($149.50, $79.50, $49.50 reserved) go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday (12/8). The current tour has drawn more than 600,000 fans thus far with sold out shows in cities across America. Tickets for the Columbus show are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, the Schottenstein Center Ticket Office, or charge by phone at 431-3600 or online at www.livenation.com. All tickets are subject to applicable charges.
