Headline newsHospitals collaborating to investigate prospect of Proton Therapy Cancer Treatment FacilityCentral Ohio’s four major hospital systems are undertaking a collaborative effort to investigate the feasibility of bringing a Proton Therapy Cancer Treatment Facility to Ohio. The OSU Medical Center, Mount Carmel Health System, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and OhioHealth are teaming up with Battelle to formally investigate the feasibility of a proton facility for Ohio and an appropriate path forward. Proton therapy, which is used primarily to treat cancerous and other tumors, delivers radiation to a more targeted area than traditional approaches. Patients can experience fewer side effects, reduced hospitalization and improved medical benefits with the technology. Read more >

OSU Ray Miller Institute training future leadersThe OSU Ray Miller Institute for Change and Leadership is graduating the latest class of young professionals today (12/12), with South Carolina State Rep. Bakari T. Sellers delivering the keynote address. This is an invitation only event, however applications are being accepted for future sessions of the 10-week course designed to cultivate the knowledge and skills necessary for effective leadership. Scarlet, Gray and Green Recycling Program gathers nearly 190 tonsWith its totals from the final three 2008 Buckeye football home dates, Ohio State's Scarlet, Gray and Green sustainability campaign has collected nearly 190 tons of recyclable materials the last two seasons. Scarlet, Gray and Green has averaged approximately 14 tons of recyclables per game over 14 home dates the last two seasons. Read more > Honor a veteran and support Remembrance ParkThe OSU Alumni Club of Franklin County has joined with the Ohio State ROTC programs and the University Athletic Department to establish Remembrance Park, to honor all veterans. The walkway from Woody Hayes Drive to St John Arena has space to place 2,000 bricks to honor all veterans. M. Parks Hall. Evans holds the St. Jude Professorship and Endowed Chair at the University of Tennessee Colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy and will receive an honorary degree from Ohio State during commencement on Sunday (12/14). The outreach and engagement scholarship that is recognized on a regional and national level through this award has included both institutional-wide commitments and the scholarship of individual faculty members. Everything takes longer on slippery roads so give yourself plenty of time to get where you need to go. Use slower acceleration, braking and steering to reduce your chances of losing control.
