ARC Dance Company takes freeform to a new level
For the past five years, OSU dance professor David Covey and a handful of undergraduate and graduate dance students have been teaching adults with a range of physical and mental challenges how to express themselves through the ARC Dance Company, which meets weekly in the basement of Sullivant Hall. To Jackie Boyle, art director for Franklin County’s ARC Art Studio for adults with disabilities, the class is nothing short of extraordinary. Read more >

Lake Erie Day at Cleveland Boat Expo to support OSU research, education
Organizers of the Cleveland Boat and Waterfront Lifestyle Expo are featuring a Lake Erie Day on Monday (1/19) to benefit Ohio State’s Ohio Sea Grant College Program and Stone Laboratory. The Expo runs Friday (1/16)-Sunday (1/25) at the I-X Center, 6200 Riverside Drive in Cleveland. Lake Erie Day will include drawings for Lake Erie-related prizes, a visit from Kristin Stanford, the Island Snake Lady from “Dirty Jobs,” and presentations on Lake Erie science and travel. Submissions sought for annual Facets of Diversity report
Ohio State's Collaborative Diversity Initiative is accepting submissions for the 2009 edition of Facets of Diversity, the university's annual diversity report. The theme is “Diversity and Access.” Submissions should be 500 words or less. The deadline for submission is Monday (1/26/09), with a publication date of spring 2009. Dissertation Writing Groups now forming
Interdisciplinary Dissertation Writing Groups, comprised of 3-5 writers and a trained facilitator from the OSU Writing Center, meet weekly and provide timely, consistent, supportive feedback to writers on a rotating basis for approximately an hour. Free financial planning services are available to all OSU students in the Student Wellness Center (B130 RPAC). OSU Extension helps kick off 2009 Home Gardener Series
The Franklin County Horticulture Program Home Gardener Series kicks off the 2009 schedule with Woody Plants & Pruning, from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday (1/17). Fee is $40 per person or $45 per couple. Register by Friday (1/9). Understanding basic physiology of plants and pruning principles will give you confidence and will help ensure the vigor and natural beauty of small ornamental trees and shrubs.
