Tri Fit Challenge - Join Ohio State's Ross Heart Hospital in the inaugural Triathlon event to end heart disease. The challenge is to live healthier and make the changes within your power. Participants will start at Antrim Park, finish in the 'Shoe. Choose one of three triathlon lengths to participate as an individual or in a relay that best suits their personal challenge. Funds raised will benefit life-saving heart disease research at Ohio State.

Gov. Kasich to launch OARnet 100 Gig network Dec. 11
Gov. John Kasich will visit OSU’s West Campus on Tuesday (12/11) to light the 100 Gigabit-per-second network of the Ohio Academic Resources Network, a multidisciplinary research center under Ohio State’s Office of Research. The $13 million expansion leverages OARnet’s 1,850-plus miles of fiber-optic network backbone. The 100 Gbps technology will advance research and job growth across Ohio’s medical research, higher education, manufacturing, engineering and technology corridors. Ohio State to open its first health clinic led by nurse practitioners
The innovative infrastructure behind a new OSU health and wellness practice will give patients convenient access to primary care that simultaneously addresses their physical issues as well as their mental health needs. The practice, the first to be operated by the College of Nursing, will also be the first at Ohio State run entirely by nurse practitioners. The center is expected to open in January on the 12th floor of the Wexner Medical Center’s University Hospital East, 1492 E. Broad St.

Diabetes prevention study. Want to lose weight? Are you at risk for diabetes? We are recruiting employees to participate in a research study specifically for OSU employees. The study includes 16 weeks of nutrition and exercise education and training to promote weight loss. Traffic and parking alert
12th Avenue, College Road traffic impact
- Beginning Friday (12/14), 12th Avenue, between Neil Avenue and College Road, will be closed for pavement repair through the end of December. Vehicular traffic will be directed to use 10th Avenue, and detour signage will be in place. Limited local traffic to loading docks will be maintained on 12th via College Road only. Parking spaces in the area will not be accessible. The CABS Campus Loop North will be rerouted down 11th Avenue, and the Campus Loop South will be rerouted down 10th Avenue.
- College Road, in front of the Ohio Union and Weigel Hall, will be limited to one-lane traffic during periods of the day on Wednesday (12/19) and Thursday (12/20) for spot pavement repair. Traffic control officers will maintain thru-traffic, and the bus stops will not be impacted.

Sociologist to discuss new book
Townsand Price-Spratlen, associate professor of sociology, will talk about his new book Reconstructing Rage: Transformative Reentry in the Era of Mass Incarceration on Friday (12/14) from 5-7 p.m. at The Book Suite, 887 E. Long St. The book, co-authored with William Goldsby, is about Reconstruction, Inc., a nonprofit organization founded in 1988 in Philadelphia to help former felons integrate back into society. The event will include a reading and book signing.

Dec. 14: Columbus Moving Image Art Review
The Columbus Moving Image Art Review is hosting its 13th quarterly local moving image screening event on Friday (12/14) from 8-9:30 p.m. in 180 Hagerty Hall. The goal of CMIAR is to provide a quarterly screening event comprised of works from local artists working in the seventh art of the moving image. CMIAR 13 will be programmed with moving image work from Ohio State students, staff and alumni, CCAD students and faculty, and local Central Ohio filmmakers. Admission is free.
