FY22 UNIV Blanket Order Season Processing Time Frame. April 1 through May 31. Blanket Orders are used for transactions that occur very frequently (daily or multiple times a week), have a high variation of product types, have undetermined timing and are not available in Buckeye Buy. Your FY22 UNIV Blanket Orders must be received between April 1 and May 31 to allow for adequate processing time. University Libraries catalog ‘My Account’ changes

Beginning May 3, the University Libraries catalog will offer a more secure and convenient way for users to access their library account. These changes will ensure greater protection of a user’s private data (names, addresses, materials checked out, fines, etc.), while at the same time standardizing access with an Ohio State username (lastname.#).

Telling sunbathers what they don’t want to hear

Most young women already know that tanning is dangerous and sunbathe anyway, so a campaign informing them of the risk should take into account their potential resistance to the message, according to a new study. Word choice and targeting a specific audience are part of messaging strategy, but researchers say there is also psychology at play – especially when the message is telling people something they don’t really want to hear.

Partnering and futuring for the child welfare system

Partnering and futuring are two key concepts leading to the development of a five-volume policy and practice compendium on the child welfare system by Ohio State's College of Social Work and the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA). Ramona Denby-Brinson, professor and associate dean of academic affairs, and Amanda Klein-Cox, senior research associate, are collaborating with the CWLA on the project.

Grants for professional development and career mobility

The Women’s Place is accepting applications for Critical Difference for Women (CDW) Professional Development and Women of Color Advancement Grants. These Development Grants are designed to facilitate career growth and mobility for Ohio State staff, faculty and students. Grants up to $1,000 will be awarded for professional development conferences, equipment, research activities, certifications and more. Applications are due May 14.

The roots of slowing climate change are in trees

Join us April 29 for a webinar discussing the research findings of forestry experts from various universities on how to expand the role that trees play in combating climate change. Trees take up about 12% of the carbon dioxide produced from fuel burning vehicles and other sources in the United States every year. A panel discussion will include Sara Ohrel, an economist in the climate change division of the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Do you take antidepressants but still have symptoms of depression? The Department of Psychiatry is enrolling adults in a clinical research study evaluating an investigational drug added-on to an antidepressant in patients who are depressed. Participants will receive study-related evaluations at no cost and may receive compensation for their time. Back to Crisis? Northern Ireland after Brexit

Join the Mershon Center and Moritz College of Law's Divided Community Project on April 29, for a lunchtime conversation with Duncan Morrow. He will analyze the recent community division and violence that has re-erupted in Belfast and across Northern Ireland, which is linked to rising tensions over post-Brexit trade rules and worsening relations between the parties in the power-sharing Belfast government.
