COVID-19 vaccine location now open at the Ohio Union

A vaccine site open only to students, faculty and staff is now open in the Performance Hall on the first floor of the Ohio Union. This site will operate Monday through Friday from 11 a.m.-4:45 p.m. through at least May 7. Appointments can be scheduled through MyChart or by calling the Wexner Medical Center COVID-19 vaccine hotline at 614-688-VAXX (614-688-8299).

COVID-19 in our dust may help predict outbreaks, study finds

A study done in rooms where COVID-19 patients were isolated shows that the virus’s RNA – part of the genetic material inside a virus – can persist up to a month in dust. The study did not evaluate whether dust can transmit the virus to humans. It could, however, offer another option for monitoring COVID-19 outbreaks in specific buildings, including nursing homes, offices or schools.

Slideshow: Outpatient Care West Campus

Concrete pours continue and steel deliveries are scheduled for the Wexner Medical Center Outpatient Care West Campus construction site. Underground plumbing and electrical installation have begun, and the fifth floor of the adjacent parking garage is being poured. The outpatient care center and garage will open in summer 2023 with the proton center scheduled to open in fall 2023. View the photo slideshow and time-lapse video.

The doors have opened to a brand new Ohio State Dental Faculty Practice (Ohio State DFP). Located on the corner of 12th and Neil avenues in the College of Dentistry’s expanded Postle Hall, the Ohio State DFP is home to nearly 60 general dentists, dental specialists and dental hygienists.

Childcare Funding Assistance for Pell Grant eligible and low-income students

The CCAMPIS (Child Care Means Parents in School) grant, under the ACCESS Collaborative program, is authorized by the Higher Education Act and administered by the U.S. Department of Education. This grant provides childcare funding assistance to Pell Grant eligible and low-income parenting students. The ACCESS Collaborative is accepting applications for summer and autumn 2021 semesters.

Getting around campus

 

12th Avenue closing at Cannon Drive

From May 9 late evening, after spring commencement, through mid August, 12th Avenue between Cannon Drive and Harding Hospital will be closed to accommodate utility work in support of construction for the new inpatient hospital. Learn about detours of EMS traffic, pedestrians, ADA and Ackerman Shuttle.

CABS summer service begins

The Campus Area Bus Service (CABS) summer service begins May 3. Most CABS routes run reduced bus service Monday – Friday, with no service overnight, on the weekends and on university holidays. The College Road closure beginning May 10 will detour multiple routes to High Street. The Med Center Express and Overnight On-Demand service at the Wexner Medical Center continue to run its normal schedule.

Traffic impacts for student moving days

Students will be moving out of residence halls through May 1, with the busiest days occurring on April 30 and May 1. Parking lots, garages, loading zones and roadways will be busier than normal. Normal parking restrictions apply during move-out.

12th Avenue Garage repairs begin

Concrete repairs in 12th Avenue Garage will begin May 3. During the work, two floors of the garage will be partially closed at a time. The remainder of the garage will remain open. The project is scheduled for completion by Aug. 1.
