WOSU Public Media shoe drive, film screening
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, WOSU Public Media is partnering with independent theater Gateway Film Center for a one-night shoe drive. The drive coincides with the premiere screening of Won’t You Be My Neighbor, a new documentary that takes an intimate look at America’s favorite neighbor. Drop off gently used and new shoes to Gateway Film Center on Friday (6/29) beginning at 6 p.m. Screening is at 7 p.m. Buy tickets here and get a voucher for free popcorn and beverage if you donate shoes.

Go For Launch!
Go For Launch! is a multi-day program (not overnight) that uses Space Exploration as a platform to launch student involvement in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), STEAM (art), teamwork, communication and leadership. This program is created and presented by Higher Orbits, a nonprofit, and was developed to reach high school students. Our program accepts grades 8 to 12 and will be on campus Thursday (8/2) to Saturday (8/4). Cost of attendance is $250. With code OSUSTAFF, faculty and staff can get 20 percent off through Saturday (6/30).

There is planned maintenance with additional downtime beginning Saturday (6/23) at 5 p.m. for PeopleSoft Human Resources and Buckeye Link (Campus Solutions/Student Information System). Affected services include Employee Self Service, Student Center functions accessed through Buckeye Link, and Faculty Center. Nurses raise over $7,000 for American Heart Association
Nurses Patty Potts, Rodney Rupp and Trudi Souslin organize the Ross Heart Hospital plant sale each year to support the hospital’s annual sponsorship of the American Heart Association Heart Walk. This year, through their devoted efforts, they set a new record — selling more than 3,000 tomato and pepper plants, hanging baskets and flats of flowers and raising over $7,000.

Ohio State is studying an investigational oral medication to diminish endometriosis-associated pain. The medication works by blocking the hormones that influence new and continued growth of endometriosis. To participate you must be 18-49 years of age. Rikihisa wins international canine research award
Yasuko Rikihisa, University Distinguished Professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine, won the coveted International Award category at the International Canine Health Awards. She was awarded £40,000 (approximately $53,000) toward her future work. She was recognized for her groundbreaking work into tick-borne diseases that infect dogs, other companion and wild animals and humans.
