Improving children's kindergarten readiness
A new $3.4 million 5-year grant from the Institute of Education Sciences to Crane Center for Early Childhood Research and Policy researchers will examine the impact of specific kindergarten-transition practices on children's academic and social-behavioral development during preschool, their adjustment to kindergarten and their trajectories from preschool to the end of first grade. More than 1,000 children will be followed from preschool to the end of the kindergarten year.

Buckeye Alert System Test and additional safety resources
A Buckeye Alert system test will occur Wednesday (6/27). Students, faculty and staff will receive a text message that will be clearly identified as a test. The system also sends severe weather alerts to the entire university community with updates. Deadline for the 2018 e-COI disclosure
Faculty, staff, students and postdoctoral researchers required to complete a financial conflict of interest (COI) disclosure must do so by Saturday (6/30). Grants submissions, awards and animal, human and biosafety protocols will not be processed until all outstanding COI disclosures are completed.

Beginning Monday (6/25), fencing will go up around Fontana Laboratory and 140 W. 19th Ave. (formerly known as Koffolt Laboratory) in anticipation of renovations and a building addition. Pedestrians will be detoured to the north sidewalk of Woodruff Avenue and the south sidewalk of 19th Avenue.

Power washing begins in 9th Avenue West Garage
On Tuesday (6/26), CampusParc will begin power washing 9th Avenue West Garage, which will incur daily rolling deck closures through Friday (6/29). To complete the work, the entire garage closes Friday (6/29). Entrances will close at 4 p.m., and all vehicles must exit the garage by 7 p.m. Work is expected to be done Monday (7/2) at 5 a.m.
