Through the light: Chowdhury earns $1.05M to study materials in extremes

Much still remains unknown about the physics of the sun. Ohio State Electrical and Computer Engineering Assistant Professor Enam Chowdhury earned a $1.056 million grant from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. Chowdhury and his team use intense lasers and heat to study the impact on materials in extreme conditions. More than that, learn what three books helped Chowdhury develop a passion for physics as a young student in Bangladesh.

WOSU Public Media's Mary Rathke earns EMMY

Mary Rathke, senior TV producer/director with WOSU Public Media, is being recognized with the Silver Circle EMMY® Award, one of the highest honors given by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The Silver Circle recognizes television professionals who have performed distinguished service within the industry for 25 years or longer, made an enduring contribution to the vitality of the television industry and helped set high standards of achievement. She was WOSU’s first female on the studio crew, first female videographer and now the first staff member to receive this honor.
