Last day to register for Ohio’s Opioid Epidemic CEU/CME. The Healthy State Alliance – a partnership between The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Mercy Health -- invites you to attend a one-day, CEU/CME, Addressing Ohio’s Opioid Epidemic July 31 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Convention Center. The event is geared toward physicians and APPs and will cover state efforts to reduce opioid use, medication-assisted treatments in various settings and an introduction to ASAM levels of care. Data from NASA and Ohio State offer new clues about why stars explode

When NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite launched into space in April 2018, it did so with a specific goal: to search the universe for new planets. But in recently published research, a team of Ohio State astronomers showed that the survey, nicknamed TESS, also could be used to monitor a particular type of supernova, giving scientists more clues about what causes white dwarf stars to explode — and about the elements those explosions leave behind.

'Sell something' policies out for university-wide feedback

The Office of Business and Finance welcomes your feedback on two “sell something” policies related to the Enterprise Project. The proposed new Earnings Operations policy establishes why, when, and how a unit may sell goods and services for fees, as well as how to establish, maintain and close such earnings operations. The proposed revised Accounts Receivable policy applies to all units that sell goods or services on credit and individuals and entities that owe the university money for any reason; the policy does not apply to the Health System or to goods and services exchanged between units. These policies are open for university-wide feedback until Aug. 4 on the University Policies website (“Policies Under Review” tab).

Upcoming closures for OHR Customer Service and background checks

Please be aware of Office of Human Resources Customer Service closures during summer 2019 and plan accordingly. On July 25, Customer Service phones will close at noon, and walk-in service will open as usual. On Aug. 8, phones, walk-in service and fingerprint background checks will be closed all day. On Aug. 9, phones open at 10 a.m., and walk-in service will be open as usual.

A living will is a guide to your wishes for end of life care. A health care power of attorney allows you to designate a trusted person to make decisions if you’re unable. The Certification in Practice of Data Analytics (CPDA) program is designed for people who would like a solid skill set to analyze data for research outcomes, decision making, operational understanding and more. This 100% online, non-credit program provides flexibility while learning from top faculty from the College of Engineering and the Department of Statistics at Ohio State. The CPDA program includes a new fifth course, Practical Application to Advanced Analytics. CEU credits awarded. Courses begin Tuesday (8/20).

Fifth Annual Health Care Innovation and Entrepreneurship Workshop
