Sponsor Expand your view of abstract art with “Inherent Structure.”

On view at the Wexner Center for the Arts through Sunday (8/12), Inherent Structure showcases a multigenerational group of 16 artists who provide fascinating insight into the underlying sources and influences of abstract art today, from the personal to the sociopolitical. The stunning collection of works displayed includes materials from paint and yarn to commercial stone and du-rags. Admission to the galleries is always free for students, and free to all Thursdays 4 to 8 p.m.

Deadline tomorrow for the President's Prize!

There’s still time to change the world! Students scheduled to graduate this academic year should apply for the President’s Prize before the deadline on Friday (7/27). The President’s Prize provides two graduating seniors with the financial resources and crucial connections needed to advance innovative ideas in the year after their graduation. Each recipient will receive: $50,000 living stipend and $50,000 in project funds; access to an exclusive network of Ohio State faculty, staff, alumni and friends; and the opportunity to share their ideas with Ohio State’s global network.

Camp Hetuck for first-generation students

Every new freshman has a lot to learn about how to be a college student. For students such as Jasmine Feller of Cleveland and Brady Tritt of Perry Township, it’s slightly more difficult because they are first-generation college students. As the first in their family to pursue a bachelor’s degree, Feller and Tritt decided to learn as much as they could before classes begin in August, by attending Camp Hetuck at Ohio State Mansfield.

Inaugural cohort of President's Postdoc Scholars

Ohio State has named 11 scholars as the inaugural cohort of President’s Postdoctoral Scholars. Recipients were selected from a diverse and highly competitive pool of 103 national and international applicants. Their research ranges from a mathematical examination of complex biological patterns, to the cumulative nature of depressive syndromes, to the history of fiction reading in the United States.

Leadership Research Grant Program

The Fisher Leadership Initiative at Fisher College of Business is accepting proposals for its second annual Leadership Research Grant Program. Researchers from colleges and units across Ohio State are invited to submit projects for consideration. The Fisher Leadership Initiative intends to award $50,000 in grants to eligible projects. The deadline to apply is Friday (9/14).

Dealing with daily stress? JustBreathe is a new university campaign and resource center designed to help you practice effective and evidence-based relaxation techniques such as deep breathing. Faculty and staff are encouraged to check out the free JustBreathe resource center for further information on and effective tools for combating stress. JustBreathe reminder stickers, created by the One University faculty and staff wellness sub council, a committee of the One University Health and Wellness Council, are available for order in limited quantities.

Neuro vision continuing education course

Join other occupational therapists in central Ohio for a comprehensive neuro vision continuing education course. This Clinical Evaluation and Management of Visual and Perceptual Impairments course, to be held Aug. 25 to 27 in Morehouse Pavilion, will be led by Thomas Politzer, OD, FCOVD, FAAO; Karen Rasavage, OTR; and Amy Berryman, OTR, MSHSA from Craig Hospital. This hands-on course will range from basic through advanced skills over three days.

Bloggers wanted at Kirwan Institute

The Race and Cognition team at the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity is hosting a month-long social media campaign this fall. We will highlight our research on implicit bias in Ohio K-12 education school discipline and zero tolerance policies. The #booksnotbias campaign will highlight our research, while also being a platform for bloggers with the #blogagainstbias portion of the campaign. We also will host a live Twitter chat Fridays in September to discuss our research and responses to the blog.

October will mark the 20-year anniversary of Hope’s Boutique, a full-service, non-profit, retail shop focused on helping women feel their best throughout their cancer journey.
