New airport director takes the pilot seat

Adam Wolf has been promoted to director of The Ohio State University Airport, effective Aug. 1. His charge extends from airfield operations to fixed-based operations, including the implementation of associated capital projects.

The SOAR Initiative and Columbus Public Health

The SOAR Initiative, a nonprofit founded and managed by Ohio State students, announced a partnership with Columbus Public Health. A Deadly Batch Alert app has been created to send text alerts about dangerous batches of drugs in central Ohio. Columbus residents, including Ohio State students, are advised to subscribe to this alert system by texting "SOAR" to 614-768-7627.

COPEC, a non-profit, 501(C)3 organization, invites you to join us for two brand-new financial education experiences. During August, COPEC will be hosting topical financial wellness discussions (along with open Q&A) with industry experts every day from 2-3 p.m. on COPEC Daily Webcast. Topics of discussion will include legal, planning, budgeting, tax, investment, older adult issues and much more. Also, starting Aug. 7 at 11 a.m., we will be holding weekly financial webinars called Financial Wellness Fridays. JamesCare for Life Presents: Mindfulness in Motion

JamesCare for Life Presents Mindfulness in Motion, an 8-week research-based program combining guided mindfulness meditation, community sharing, gentle yoga-inspired stretches and relaxing music. This course, developed by Dr. Maryanna Klatt, has been shown to significantly improve perceived stress, resilience, and quality of sleep for cancer survivors. The Fall Session will be held Aug. 12 through Sept. 30 from 11:00 am- 12:00 pm via ZOOM, and is offered free of charge to cancer survivors and their caregivers.

Women in Leadership: Moving into the C-Suite

Women constitute over half of the college-educated workforce in professional and management-level jobs. But there isn’t equal representation in the C-suite. On Aug. 6 from 2-3 p.m., join Cynthia Turner (MA ’95, PhD ’96), assistant dean and chief diversity officer at Fisher, and prominent alumnae in discussing female underrepresentation in the C-suite and ways in which women can reach executive leadership positions.

Social Work offers new #DoSomething advocacy course

The College of Social Work offers a new virtual workshop, #DoSomething: Advocacy for Impact, specially designed for social workers and human service professionals who often encounter systems that present challenges seemingly beyond their control. This course will provide knowledge and tools to equip attendees as effective advocates for policy and legislative change. It will examine legislative structures and process, the importance of political engagement and strategies and targets for advocacy. The live Zoom course Aug. 13 10 a.m. to noon is free and open to everyone. Offers two CEU hours for a fee.
