National Emergency Alert test
FEMA and the FCC will conduct a nationwide test on Thursday (9/20). During this time, WEA compatible cell phones will receive a test message. This is not a Buckeye Alert; however, many students, faculty and staff will receive the test message. It will have a header that reads "Presidential Alert" and text that says: “THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.”

Ohio State hosting Moral Media Meeting
The 2018 Moral Media Meeting on Saturday (9/29) at Ohio State is an annual conference, previously held at Michigan State, that gathers researchers who study moral processes (broadly construed) to share new findings, learn about the latest developments from leading scholars in the field and generate collaborative projects. This year’s organizers are Matthew Grizzard and Richard Huskey with Ohio State School of Communication.

Open-Carry/Firearm Education Walk
Ohio State’s Department of Public Safety will have a visible presence on campus Friday (9/14). An unaffiliated group has notified the university it will conduct an open-carry/firearm education walk estimated to take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Ohio State University Police Division will have a visible presence during the event to promote safety and to protect the rights of all members of the university community. Vehicle Safety Study Seeks Participants (5-7 years old).
The Center for Child Injury Prevention Studies at Ohio State is conducting a study regarding the mobility and strength of the neck in children. These data will be used to verify and improve the accuracy of the neck in vehicle crash test dummies, as well as that of computer simulations.
Each participant will receive a $25 Target gift card. Time commitment is roughly 90 minutes.
