How 1968 football team helped unite divided campus

Join Todd Jones, former sports reporter at The Columbus Dispatch, and Bill Shkurti, author of The Ohio State University in the Sixties: The Unveiling of the Old Order, as they weave the tale of the 1968 OSU Football Team’s Rose Bowl victory, and the amazing season leading up to it. The lecture is Monday (9/17) 3 p.m. in 165 Thompson Library. The event celebrates Founders Day, which commemorates the date Ohio State opened in 1873.

Distinguished Scholar Award Nominations Sought

The Office of Research seeks nominations for the 2019 University Distinguished Scholar Award (DSA). The DSA program annually recognizes six faculty members who demonstrate scholarly activity, research or creative works which represent exceptional achievements in their fields. Recipients receive a $20,000 research grant and a $3,000 honorarium to pursue their scholarly activity. Deadline for nominations is Monday (10/15) at 5 p.m.

UH East earns Level III Trauma Center designation

The Ohio Department of Public Safety and the Ohio Department of Health have recognized Wexner Medical Center's University Hospital East as a Provisional Level III Trauma Center. This designation enhances trauma care and extends our reach of trauma services to the region. Trauma coverage at UH East is provided by the same experienced clinical team that serves the University Hospital Level I Trauma Center. UH East can now provide critical access, stabilization of patients and definitive trauma care to patients with serious traumatic injuries.

Three interactive Million Hearts® classes

The Office of the Chief Wellness Officer, College of Nursing and OSU Extension will host three interactive Million Hearts® classes. Class content includes information to improve blood pressure, cholesterol management and stress reduction with food demonstrations and tastings, mindfulness training and aerobic activities. Classes are free and offered Thursdays (10/4, (10/11) and (10/18) 1-3 p.m. in A145 PAES.

Getting around campus

Increased construction traffic at Postle Hall

From Monday (9/17) to Saturday (9/29) 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, traffic control personnel will be on hand at the intersection of Neil Avenue and 11th Avenue to facilitate increased construction traffic into and out of the Postle Hall expansion construction area. Pedestrians may experience delays and are reminded to exercise additional caution near construction areas.
