COVID-19 - Get Vaccinated

The university strongly encourages all students, faculty and staff to get vaccinated. Walk-in appointments are available on campus and there are Wexner Medical Center locations around central Ohio and even more at retail locations throughout the state.

Once you have been vaccinated, the university is asking employees to voluntarily share their vaccine information by completing this simple form. Even if you were vaccinated through the Wexner Medical Center or your information appears in MyChart, we are asking you to submit through this form so that it can be used in our public health response. This information will be used for contact tracing, isolating/quarantining or other individual case decisions in the event of a COVID-19 exposure, as aggregate data to determine the percentage of vaccinated Ohio State employees, and to drive decisions on public health measures needed for the Ohio State community.

This report reflects on the lessons discovered so far, with a keen attention toward distilling and naming what was learned from work that is very much still in progress. In the spirit of research as learning, the report aims to capture the thoughts and reflections of experiences thus far from this international, women-led, collaborative team.

Evidence of first-order phase change in nuclear matter

New evidence suggests that protons and neutrons go through a “first-order” phase transition—a kind of stop-and-go change in temperature—when they “melt.” This is similar to how ice melts: energy first increases the temperature, then, during the transition, the temperature stays steady while the energy transforms a solid to a liquid. Only when all the molecules are liquid can the temperature increase again. With protons and neutrons, the melted state is a soup of quarks and gluons. Scientists studying this quark-gluon plasma (QGP) at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) see signs of this stop-and-go transition. The latest data, from low-energy collisions, adds new support for this pattern.
