Ohio State leads in understanding climate change and ecosystems

Ohio State is one of 14 universities from around the globe that have been awarded $12.5 million from the National Science Foundation to launch a new Biology Integration Institute called EMERGE. It will focus on better understanding ecosystem and climate interactions such as the thawing of the Arctic permafrost.

Ohio State Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers a working in a Multiple Generational Workplace Webinar on Oct. 8. Many of us are now part of a workforce made up of employees from different generations. This means that the workplace should be flexible enough to suit different work styles and attitudes across age groups. Sustainable Design and Construction policy out for university-wide feedback

The Office of Administration and Planning welcomes your feedback on revisions to the Sustainable Design and Construction policy (currently the Green Build and Energy policy). This policy is open for university-wide feedback through Oct. 11 on the University Policies website. Visit the “Policies Under Review” tab to view an overview of the policy changes and the proposed revised policy.

Chemical engineering wins two high-profile NSF grants

In a rare achievement, a single department has received two National Science Foundation Emerging Frontiers in Research and Innovation (EFRI) grants -- and on the same day. The NSF’s EFRI program is extremely competitive. It is unusual for two EFRIs to be awarded to the same university and department. Principal Investigators L.-S. Fan and Bhavik Bakshi each received $2 million for transformative projects to make our planet healthier.

The OSU Human Nutrition program is seeking men and women to participate in several studies that are investigating the health benefits of certain foods. Adults between the ages of 18-65 years old who are healthy or at least 20 pounds overweight may be eligible to participate. Compensation is available for all studies and parking will be provided. NAA Frank G. Brewer Trophy awarded

Jim Gregory, chair of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, has been awarded the 2020 Frank G. Brewer Trophy by the National Aeronautic Association (NAA). The award has been presented since 1943 to honor significant contributions of enduring value to aerospace education in the United States.

The Couple and Family Therapy Clinic, College of Education and Human Ecology, is offering virtual sessions at reduced rates through December.
