Ohio State’s Department of Public Safety has released a new video to highlight safety resources available to the campus community. Everyone can learn how to Survive an Active Aggressor and gain access to a free virtual guardian app. Students can discover ridesharing discounts and where to obtain free window and door alarms. A conversation with the Student Wellness Center

Join us Dec. 15 3-4:30 p.m. for a virtual conversation with staff from the Office of Student Life’s Student Wellness Center. We will discuss the scope of student resources offered through the center, including finances, nutrition, mental health and more. We also will cover current trends in college student wellness, and how you can best connect students to the resources offered through the SWC. All faculty and staff are invited to join our panel discussion.

K-12 blended learning during COVID-19

The pandemic has resulted in our schools grappling with equal educational access, care for student well-being and social justice. Ohio State’s College of Education and Human Ecology partnered with K-12 teachers and administrators this summer and fall to share best practice strategies for educators to use in their schools and classrooms. To date, topics addressed are student well-being; student motivation; teacher well-being; assessment; English language learners; and physical education, music and art.

To date, 144 Ohio State researchers have written 301 articles for The Conversation. Earlier this month, Ohio State faculty passed a milestone -- their contributions had received more than 10 million reads.

Logan named director of inaugural NBER working group

Trevon Logan, professor of economics and interim dean of Social and Behavioral Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences, has been appointed director of the National Bureau of Economic Research’s (NBER) inaugural Working Group on Race and Stratification in the Economy. The new working group will bring together researchers from the various subfields of economics to examine the causes and consequences of racial economic disparities.

2021-22 CE/ISP Pilot RFA released

The Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) Pilot and Collaborative Studies Program announces a multi-track pilot RFP offered through the CCTS Community Engagement (CE) and Integrating Special Populations (ISP) programs. Apply by Dec. 4 at 11:59 p.m. through REDCap and upload as one complete PDF. This initiative aims to facilitate projects that include collaborative teams of researchers and stakeholders.

East Asian studies scholarship competitions

The East Asian Studies Center announces the availability of applications for the 2021 Louise Zung-Nyi Loh Memorial Scholarship and the 2021 Intensive Chinese Language Scholarship. The Louise Loh Scholarship is open to graduate and undergraduate students in any department who have an academic specialization and research interests in East Asian studies in their present or future programs of study. The Intensive Chinese Language Scholarship is designed to accelerate the acquisition of Chinese language skills for future careers related to China. This scholarship is geared toward undergraduate students pursuing dual degrees in Chinese language and related fields. Apply by March 1.
