The Merce Cunningham Dance Company comes to the Mershon Auditorium for an 8 p.m. Feb. 12 kickoff performance of The Legacy Tour — appropriate given that the late, great Cunningham received the Wexner Prize in 1993. Cunningham radically reinvented the possibilities of dance and developed his company as a platform for multidisciplinary artistic exploration. Tickets are $20-$36. Call 292-3535.

Town St. Find out how a three-month artist residency in Dresden, Germany, became a seven-year photographic exploration of the city and its outskirts, how the detritus of human culture manifests itself in the decaying interior spaces of vacant factories, abandoned apartments and hotel rooms. Learn how Marsh’s images capture the juxtapositions and ironies still abundant in the post-Socialist world of Eastern Europe 20 years after the collapse of the Berlin Wall. Yoga to help build college futures

The College of Social Work is hosting the Yoga Foundations Workshop from 3-5:30 p.m. at Balanced Yoga Studio to help raise money for its Students First fund. The fund helps struggling families pay to send children to college or help keep currently enrolled students in college when financial hardship strikes.For a suggested donation of $20, the workshop will cover the roots of yoga, the building blocks for a solid physical yoga practice, breathing exercises and yoga postures. DRAWING ON SPORTS PASSION -- The Wayne & Geraldine Kuhn Fine Arts Gallery at Ohio State Marion hosts an exhibition of drawings and paintings by local artist Jay Johnston through Aug. 31. Born in 1954 in Marion, Johnston graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design in 1977. In 1986 and 1989, he won top honors in illustration from the Ohio Associated Press. His art reflects his passions for the history of the American West and sports in America. Johnston’s paintings are in private collections in Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, the University of Southern California and the Papadakis Taverna in Los Angeles. The gallery is free and open to the public Monday through Friday, during normal campus business hours. University Senate delays vote on model for semester calendar

A much-anticipated vote on the specific calendar to be used for the university’s switch to semesters was postponed at the May 26 meeting of University Senate to give senators and the OSU community a bit more time to study and perhaps tweak it.

The OSU ROTC Department is hosting a memorial 5K for Ray Mendoza, a former Ohio State athlete who served as a Marine Corps officer and made the ultimate sacrifice for his country during 2005 in Iraq. He left a legacy of leadership and service, and The Ray Mendoza Leadership Fund was started in his honor through the John Glenn School of Public Affairs.

Cartoon Library celebrates acquiring international art

OSU Libraries is presenting a free three-part reading and discussion series, “Reading Comics: Krazy Kat, Gasoline Alley and Peanuts Revisited,” in conjunction with the transfer of the International Museum of Cartoon Art Collection to the OSU Cartoon Library and Museum.
Discussions will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Mondays, starting June 8, in the seminar room adjacent to the Cartoon Library and Museum in the Wexner Center for the Arts. Registration required. World-renowned primate artist to speak

The Department of Anthropology’s annual Bourguignon Lecture in Art and Anthropology features Stephen Nash, primate artist and scientific illustrator for Conservation International, who will speak on “The History of Primate Imagery” at 6 p.m. in 002 Psychology Building. Nash’s artwork for conservation education and biological publications has been called “the taxonomic gold standard.” A reception will follow. Free and open to the public. Lemeshow to deliver talk on stratified analysis

Stanley Lemeshow, dean of the College of Public Health, will present “Controlling for Confounding and Effect Modification: Stratified Analysis vs. Logistic Regression,” from 10-11 a.m. in M008 Starling Loving Hall. The Center for Clinical and Translational Science lecture will review several available methods for combining information over strata and compares that approach to an analysis based on use of the logistic regression model.
