Spotlight on… Ohio State University Extension
May 21, 2009
OSU Extension is the original and most extensive outreach arm of the university.
With offices run by faculty and staff in all 88 counties, Extension fulfills Ohio State’s land-grant mission to address challenges of Ohioans via non-credit programs and research-based materials.
We focus primarily on agriculture and natural resources, including environmental stewardship and gardening; family and consumer sciences, including nutrition, finances and human development; community and economic development, including business retention and expansion; and youth development and citizenship through Extension’s 4-H program.
Local efforts are supported by faculty with Extension appointments based in 13 departments in Columbus and at the OARDC in Wooster. Through OSU CARES, Extension expands its outreach by collaborating with more than 50 departments representing all colleges across campus.
